I like that it takes up less space when you store it on the shelf of supplies for our scaly babies. Also, since it has to be soaked to expand, it definitely helps maintain the humidity in their enclosures, which is a huge benefit. I haven't determined if our babies like it better or not. That will be the ultimate determination, and also not necessarily a fault of the product.
