Move the reset button and set your code, then move the button back and it's done. Close the lid and check it opens when pressing the side buttons before mixing up the numbers else you'll have a real problem. And keep a record of the new number.. **Q: Does this lock have a default combination 0000? Mine won't open.** A: This is not the code. When you bought the key safe and turned it over in its original plastic packaging there was a depression in the back covered by a plastic film. If you removed this the code was underneath or on a small leaflet inside the depression. Hopefully you still have the packaging and leaflet. Once you have opened the safe you can change the code yourself very simply...instructions are in the leaflet. **Q: how do you set the combination?** A: When you have the door open, on the inside of the door by the side of where the barrel is there is a small silver lever. You put the lever to the set position (which is marked) and turn the combination to what you want and then move the lever back. That is your new combination (be careful!!!).
