Review: Beautiful Amp - As already mentioned- pop over to Innerfidelity to read a proper review. Paul at theaudiophileman also has a great review. I've had this amp two months now. My setup- Macbook Pro- Audirvana 3.1 integer mode- iFi iPurifier 2- Musical Fidelity V90 with iPower PSU- Arcam rHead- Senn HD650 unmodified. I've tried audio products from major firms at £300 that were not worth £200. This is a £400 product, no question, and you know all that money has gone into what matters. Nothing about this is cheap or out of place. This is exactly the kind of gear I like to buy- no bluetooth, no remote, it won't make you toast, it does one thing and it does it so so well. It's discreet, it's solid, build quality is fantastic, the volume pot is beautiful- incredible accuracy, lovely clicks, precise silent movement. I use this for all audio from my computer so I need to make minute volume adjustments all the time- smallest touch and it shifts perfectly. I 100% understand that this is a volume pot from Arcam's £4000 flagship A49. Fully Class A. So in my setup- there's zero noise. None. Zero. There is a little at 5% of the final turn with nothing playing- which must be where the amp shifts to class B- but that level would deafen anyone, break most headphone drivers and I never get anywhere close to that. With the 300ohm Senn 650, most I ever get on the volume is to about 2/3 o'clock- ie, perfect- because I've got the entire range to play with. Sound- it's an incredibly clean, clear, neutral amp- read the proper reviews to get the jist- it's extremely musical, smooth, and like Paul says- it brings the instruments and musical elements into a balance that's just wonderful, as if you're in the middle of the stage rather than too far forward or back, timing, layering are sublime. I have tinnitus so I needed something clear and smooth without sibilance- with V90 DAC and this amp- perfect. I listen for hours so overly bright, dark, basically out of balance just won't work for me. This amp is perfect and at around £200 it's just a total steal- Americans must be getting an idea of what it's like for us- it's currently standard RRP- $600 over there. So now is the one chance in a blue moon that we actually get to buy something cheaper in England- 2.5 times cheaper. I don't write reviews- but I sent Arcam an email to say thank you and well done.
Review: great little amp - first of all i want to thank all the people who answered my question about the beyerdynamic 250ohm. that was really kind from you and i really appreciated it. as you suggested the amp has no problem driving them. i also own a pair of sennheiser hd600 which are 300ohm impedance but strangely i find them less difficult to pilot compared to the beyerdynamic (which are 250ohm), don't know why. i've tried the amp during the last 3 days and i must say i'm really happy with it, i think it is better than my old schiit vali 2 and also schiit magni which cost about the same (vali 2 is exactly the same) i've also tried some other amps in the 200 pound price range and this is better than all. schiit vali 2 could drive my sennheiser pretty good but with the beyerdynamic i had to put the volume at the maximum and still didnt sound too loud. with the arcam i couldnt pass the 3/4 (3 o clock) because it became too loud. shiit vali was also colouring the sound a bit, the arcam is more neutral and transparent, not a night and day difference but still something i can easily tell. i also cannot hear any distortion which is great. what bothered me in the beginning was that this amp was 400 pound when it came out and is now 200 pound, that doesnt seems too fair to the ones that payed 400 pound for it and i think that is not a great choice from the company. i've tried to find some infos about it on the internet but i could not. the amp is also really well built and for the actual price is a steal. one last thing, i basically only own english amplifications for my headphones and my main system (quad from huntingdon and naim from wiltshire..great stuff from the '80 when they where actually manufacturing in the uk and not in china), i've lived in the uk (plymouth) for a couple of years (more than ten years ago..thats why my english skill is slowly turning poor..i'm sorry about it) and i really miss it (apart from the weather of course..i'm italian : )). and english music is the best! i love you guys, thanks for everything! now i'm going to order some black pudding since i really really miss it. i've found something similar here in italy but it is not the same, black pudding is love black pudding is life. wish you all a merry christmas! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review

Ho acquistato l'Arcam RHead per il prezzo allettante in relazione alla classe qualitativa del prodotto. Non essendo un audiofilo lo utilizzo senza un DAC dedicato, collegandolo direttamente alla scheda madre del PC (provvista di codec Realtek ALC1150) con la semplice connessione minijack/RCA e l'ascolto avviene tramite una cuffia Sennheiser 598 CS. Dare un giudizio sulla qualità sonora dell'amplificatore mi risulta un pò difficile perchè è il primo ed unico ampli per cuffie che ho acquistato fino ad ora. Anche se la Sennheiser 598 CS non è esattamente una cuffia da audiofili ho notato comunque, con l'RHead, un grande miglioramento nella definizione del suono rispetto all'ampli integrato dell'impianto stereo. Ovviamente i risultati migliori si ottengono con formati lossless ma ho trovato godibili anche file MP3 (ad almeno 256 kbps). Mi ha sorpreso la maggiore presenza di bassi ma questo penso dipenda dalla cuffia. Dal punto di vista estetico/costruttivo il prodotto ha una sua bellezza minimalista e si presenta solido e pesante. La manopola del volume funge anche da interruttore on/off ed ha un'escursione morbida ma con sufficiente resistenza per "centrare" in modo fine la quantità di volume desiderata. Per la Sennheiser 598 CS (23 ohm) basta utilizzare solo un poco più di metà dell'escursione della manopola per ottenere un volume, senza distorsione, al limite del sopportabile. Quando l'ampli è acceso e non si acolta musica, in cuffia non si percepisce alcun ronzio o rumore di fondo. Utili, sul frontale, le due prese separate per jack da 3.5/6.35 così come le due prese XLR sul retro per una connessione più professionale. Confermo, come da recensioni lette, che l'ampli scalda un pò dopo qualche ora di utilizzo ma niente di chè. Quando non utilizzato, conviene spegnerlo tramite l'interruttore di alimentazione sul retro. Insieme all'alimentatore vengono fornite tre spine tra cui quella italiana a due poli che va montata sull'alimentatore stesso con un innesto a baionetta molto pratico. In base ad autorevoli recensioni (vedere innerfidelity.com) l'RHead si comporta egregiamente anche con cuffie con impedenza alta (300 ohm). In sostanza, se non siete audiofili, probabilmente 250 euro per un ampli dedicato per cuffia sono forse ancora troppi ma questo prodotto viene venduto, da altre parti, fino anche al doppio e se, come me, non avete alternative all'ascolto in cuffia l'RHead è un ottimo affare: lo consiglio vivamente. Una nota di merito va spesa per Amazon e per il venditore tedesco ACR-Allendorf SuperStore. Sulla pagina di acquisto non avevo trovato la possibilità di selezionare la spedizione del prodotto in una confezione anonima malgrado l'avviso di tale possibilità fosse presente nella pagina di presentazione. Ho contattato il venditore che mi ha risposto subito segnalandomi che tale tipo di spedizione doveva essere richiesto da Amazon stessa. Ho contattato il call center di Amazon che ha provveduto immediatamente ad inoltrare la richiesta via mail al venditore. La consegna è stata effettuata ben prima dei termini comunicati e la confezione, oltrechè anonima, presentava un'imballo protettivo eccellente. Uno dei migliori che ho visto.
