The base is nice and solid and thick enough to give great heat distribution meaning that the chance of anything sticking/burning is greatly reduced. I have an apricot tree and a greengage tree in my garden so I'm often required to make large quantities of jam. I was previously using an old, cheap pan with a converter plate for my induction hob and the difference between that setup and this new pan is unbelievable: Not only does the jam come out better due to the lack of hot spots on the bottom, but the process also takes about a third less time because the heat is getting into the jam more efficiently. The pouring lip on the edge of the pan makes filling jars with a funnel easier too. The quality is excellent, with sturdy all-metal construction and the brackets riveted to the main body; I very much doubt I'll ever need to buy another. Review: Cleans like a dream no catching on base - The reviews here were so positive I chose this product over known more expensive brands. I’ve now made 2 batches of marmalade and here is a pic of the pan base before washing. Just washing up liquid and a cloth was all that was required. My previous Kilner enamelled Maslin was not up to the job having carbonised on the base very quickly.
