**Q: whats to stop a thief from running up to this doorbell and ripoff your outside wall and your out 200 bucks**
A: The device would be useless to a thief if you were to remove the activation code from the back; it would be a $0 paperweight with no resale value.  You would, of course, be out $200, but if somebody really wanted to vandalize your house, they could just as easily toss a brick though your window.

**Q: Is there an intercom function where I can talk and person at door respond?  I'd like to be able to give the impression I'm home even if I'm not.**
A: Yes there is. You have to hold down the button as you speak on your phone or pad, but it seems to work pretty well.  Kind of like "push to talk"

**Q: how sensitive is the motion sensor?  Our front door is close to the street and we have a lot of walkers!**
A: I have the motion sensor enabled and have had zero false alarms.  There are neighborhood cats that roam around in my yard.  My Skybell faces the sidewalk and the distance is about 30 feet.  It does not trigger when the mailman walks right by the porch.  I read somewhere that it uses a 25 second timer to trigger the motion alert and my experience walking directly in front of it supports that there is a duration delay.  You have to be in front of it more than just a few seconds to trigger the alert although it doesn't seem to be 25 seconds, more like 10 seconds.

**Q: Is this device able to have the firmware updated if needed to fix some of the bugs addressed?**
A: Yes, the device can have the firmware updated.  According the the Skybell.com website the last firmware update occurred April 14, 2014.  This is a process that appears to be controlled by Skybell and happens automatically when new f/w is available for release.

Quite possibly my worst buy. My review is based on 6 months of testing.Connecting:On the rare occasion when I am able to connect to the bell, it takes about a minute to connect, by which point whoever rang is leaving or has already left. This is the same using mobile data as on WiFi in my home, as I'm disabled and can't get to the door fast. Other times, it just won't connect.Motion sensor:This is extremely sparodic, very rarely it will work, then suddenly it will react to nothing, then hardly work again. In 10 times of walking up to it, it might react once.Activity log:Useless and no pattern to it. Most my activity logs show no activity, just video of the normal environment, but nothing from the motion sensor or someone ringing the bell is recorded. It seems completely useless.Reaction times:At first, I'd only get the bell ringing through my phone anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour after someone rang it. Then I altered the app to push notifications on highest priority. This improved things with the occasional ring coming through within 3 seconds, but the vast majority taking up to a minute.General use:Just logging on to the Nell out of interest, be it intrigue, or a noise outside can take anywhere from 20 seconds, to the more common 1 to 2 minute wait to see anything.... IF it logs on at all.Tech support:I've been onto skybell tech support about all of this, and they responded promptly and were very helpful, providing suggestions on resets, reinstalls etc. I followed all the instructions several times over many months, and as a technical engineer and programmer I had an idea to run through these things anyway. However whilst their support service might be reasonably good, the technology that is the skybell classic 2.0 is extremely poor.Summary:If you need a video doorbell, pay for a 'Ring' doorbell. Only buy this if you want to waste your time, money and frustrations on rubbish. Complete waste of money and not fit for purpose.
