The Hitachi magic wand was the original consciousness raising old faithful from the seventies, beloved for years. That was discontinued, and recently the Doxy has been the go-to wand vibrator. I've not tried either of the aforementioned, but I did buy a cheap wand vibrator a few years ago, which was very disappointing. I guess you get what you pay for.Comparing my previous purchase and this wand side by side, this more expensive item is definitely more impressive. A vibrator generally has either buzzy vibrations (which tickle the surface of the skin), or rumbly vibrations which have a deeper sound and which penetrate deeper into the body, providing more intense stimulation. This wand has the latter, for sure.However I find it doesn't completely work for me. The large head spreads the vibrations out over a large area. Depending on your anatomy this can make it hard to get it into exactly the right place, and I find that it can numb the genital area, which is completely the opposite of what you want to happen. I find that of the three levels of steady vibration and three pulsing patterns (which are all the same level, but just pulse at different speeds), none of them are quite right. I found they all kind of beat me into submission rather than gradually increasing my level of arousal to lead me into a satisfying climax. Also the wand is large and heavy. This, along with the vibrations running up the handle, make it uncomfortable to hold for any more than a few minutes.Last year I bought the Lelo Sona Cruise, which really impressed me. It's much smaller, and USB rechargeable, but the vibrations are just as powerful as this toy, and much more penetrating. Plus the shape works better for me, as you can be very precise, and there's a real variety of vibration patterns. Even the lowest level works very well for me.
