## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this work with a particle photon?**
A: I found that the series 3 denuralizer’s photon emitter is phased incorrectly being effected by the relay fly back current, thus under the wave particle duality presumption the photons are not behaving in a sinusoidal manner.

Try using 7v for supply voltage.

**Q: what does the jumper do?**
A: You can remove the jumper to provide a different power supply (JD-VCC) to the relay actuation circuit from the one used by the host controller and to the LED side of the optocouplers. According to the relay spec, the nominal current draw is 71mA, and if for a 8 relay board that would be 568mA, and if you turn on all 8 relays simultaneously, you'll need 2-3 time more to achieve the latency.

**Q: Just purchased one of these. Can I hook it directly to the Raspberry Pi or do I need to use a Mosfet or Opto Isolator?**
A: Based on the picture, this 2 relay shield already has opto isolators for both relays (that is what the two 4 pin modules are). Raspberry Pi uses 3.3V and this uses 5V, so you may want to use a level shifter (or an NPN transistor with two resistors) to keep from overloading the Pi output.

**Q: Is this a mechanical relay or an SSR? I am looking for something that will not make an audible sound when switching, and can provide very fast respons**
A: It's a mechanical relay and makes a click, but it is not very loud. There are ssr "relays" available. Make sure to use a good heat sink if you need to switch any real current.
