I think they used to live indoors so we were worried about them feeling the cold over winter. It was easy to fit and importantly takes ceramic lamps (our previous holder burnt out because it wasn't meant to take ceramic lamps, just infrared lamps, which we were unaware of). I've deducted a star because it would be great if it had a double switch for high and low heat settings like our previous. Also it doesn't have a cage to protect the birds from it - I didn't think this would be a problem as it is quite high up in the coop but found one girl was flying up past it trying to get flies in the cobwebs!
