When I first got it this wasn't a problem, but since I've recently been performing a lot more, the lack of pickup was causing the sound technicians a lot of headaches, so I had a look to see whether there was anything I could do about it. A quick search on Amazon produced this; for the price I didn't expect much, but the reviews were excellent, so I thought, it's only £10 so I may as well give it a go. I was initially not impressed, as it arrived late and came without any instructions. However, on unpackaging, it looked fairly solid. As other reviewers have noted, it also has a built-in lead, which could be restrictive.I initially tried it out running into a keyboard as I don't have an amp, and found that the signal was quite low. However, last week I used it live for the first time, and was amazed at the quality. The sound came through beautifully, and it was plenty loud enough.If you need an affordable pickup, look no further. Just buy this one.EDIT 01/05/2016.I've now used this live several times, and it has performed perfectly every time. One thing I noticed is that it never has any feedback problems. For example, my last performance was followed immediately by someone else using a built-in guitar pickup, which created a lot of feedback as soon as it was plugged in. To overcome the problem, he had to turn his guitar volume down, with the result that it sounded rather quieter than ideal. My pickup had just been running at a much higher volume with no problems. In my opinion you would be better off with this pickup than with the built-in systems on most budget electro-acoustic guitars. And this on a budget acoustic will probably work out cheaper!EDIT 23/11/2016Having used it a bit more, I found that while it sounds all right for picking, it starts to sound VERY electric when strumming hard. Given that my main role when playing in a band is as a strummer, I decided to replace it with a Shadow SH 141. However, this was only about half the volume when it came. It may be faulty; I'm not sure yet. It does mean that this pickup will be my main one for a bit longer though :-) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A magnetic pickup-well made for the price *by J***F on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 3 June 2016* This is a magnetic pickup so it will only work on steel-strung guitars and it won't reflect the tone of the instrument.Ideal if you want to use an amp or effects unit as unlike contact mics/transducers it doesn't need a special preamp and won't feedback as readily.Well made for the price - pads to prevent damage to the guitar top.The longish lead is useful for connection to effects or amps but would need to be cut if you want to mount the pickup permanently and take the lead out of the tailstock as per many transducers so don't count on this unless you can use a soldering iron. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bad but cheap! *by N***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 18 August 2017* It's pretty bad quality - but relative to the price I think it's a 4 star. The main problem for mine is the B and E strings are much louder and are distorted. Basically if you want to hear your nice acoustic guitar via a lead, you're going to have to spend a bit more.
