Note !! - ps - this unit is of a quality construction and works well to cool devices, however, I would NOT use "any" cooling device / fan on any devices ( AV Receivers ) as they have the effect of "overriding" an amps in built "thermal" protection device ( safety cut out / shut down of unit when it is detected that the unit is overheating ! [ usually as a result of prolonged use ( over an hour ) at high volume ] ). The result is damage / failure of the unit. My amp failed as a result of using my fan - I have boxed the fan up and stored it in the loft as a reminder of my fatal mistake of purchasing a cooling fan ( any brand of fan ! ). DO NOT USE COOLING FANS ! Only use amps etc. as they were intended ( from out of the box !! - only ). **Q: Will one of these items cool a horizontal unit containing a number of items (amp, ps4, sky q etc.) or would it be better to purchase more than one?** A: These fans are meant to be placed on top of a single piece of equipment to cool it down. You're meant to put one on top of each, which is what I did for a couple of very powerful power amps that would get very hot otherwise. I guess you could position it to extract air out of cupboard, but AC Infinity have specific products for that. **Q: Does this unit work by pumping out cool air to the machines it is cooling, or does it work by sucking up hot air made by the machines?** A: It works by sucking up hot air made by the machines. I would not recommend the use of "any" brand of external cooling device as these cooling fans can "overide" a devices "protection circuit" - resulting in failure of the unit ( damage !! ). I'm very satisfied. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for cooling my Marantz pm7000n amplifier *by M***R on 11 November 2025* Recently I noticed that my Marantz amplifier was getting hot. Marantz suggest that inch clearance is given at the top of the amplifier or use a fan. Since I'm unable due to space to provide the recommended clearance I opted to go for a fan solution. The AC Infinity works perfectly; cooling the amp with very little noise. Easy to install and use, with good documentation. Also came in a well padded box. I have it currently set to SMART mode. In this mode the fans start when the temperature reaches around 88 degrees F (31 Degrees C), then shuts off below 84 degrees F (29 Degrees C). The fan speed increase every 2 degrees above 88, but currently it have not risen above 88, and seems to be doing a good job at cooling. The S7 is smaller than the amp, may be the larger unit would be better for looks, but it is almost double the price of the S7. My unit came with UK plug power supply, so I did not need a US to UK adapter as others have stated. At low fan speed, I can't hear any fan noise. The unit when sat on top of the amp sucks air through the amp in the direction that normal convection cooling occurs. This is correct as you don't want it to blow air into the unit against the follow of the rising heat. So far the unit is performing perfectly.
