But it does this because it is slightly abrasive. So it will clean your item BUT it might affect the finish especially if there is a coating on the metal to make it matt **Q: Ive got bits of rust on my brass door knobs, would this product remove this?** A: Brass will not rust. Brass plated steel door fittings will rust and can be cleaned with Brasso. However, rust indicates the plating is thin and rust will probably return over time. **Q: Will this help protect stainless steel door furniture in a coastal area** A: It won't help protect anything, it is just a very good polish, in fact you may find it will very slightly scratch stainless steel. it doesn't protect brass, if you want the shine on brass to stay longer, you would polish it with this then paint clear lacquer on to it, you can buy stainless steel polish & stainless steel lacquer which maybe your answer to your problem. **Q: Can this be used to clean the lead in leaded windows?** A: I would not use it for anything but brass or copper cleaning. The tin always used to tell you what you CAN use it for. I wold suggest soap and water for leaded windows.
