They are made with a strong hard metal that can take punishment. This particular model I wanted to fit in my pocket. I have to traverse a dark alley from time to time travelling home and needed a torch that could light the way and get knocked about a bit. there are smaller plastic options but I wanted it to survive in my coat pocket and even act as a last ditch defensive object. There are many Maglite mini torches out there with different torch power. At 332 lumens for a double AA battery power source this seems the best model. I bought it at a reduced price of £28.70. A day later it shot up to £52 so I felt I got a good deal.
