Infact, on mine, each section is a separate printed circuit board. I have terminated 4k/8MP Hikvision cameras on these patch panels. They work well. Punching down CAT6 cable works well. From memory, the kit includes a simple punchdown rool which works well. **Q: Does this work with CAT 6a** A: Yes it should do (I used it with Cat6 cable). **Q: Is this suitable for cat 5e?** A: Yes, suitable for Cat5e, and Cat6. I have used it for Cat6 and Cat5. When you come to cable it though it's a little tricky - the top 4 and the bottom 4 = 1 connection. It's different to the other patch panels I have where they are all punched into the same line. I'd recommend it though, does the job once you figure out the wiring is a little weird :) **Q: Any suggestions why my one isn't crimping the wires? When using the punch down tool the slots aren't cutting through the wires very well** A: There are two reasons I can think of:* You might be using multicore (AKA stranded or flexible) cable. This sort of cable isn't designed for IDC connectors like this, rather it's supposed to be used for patch cables.* You might be using an out of spec cable - I've seen some reels that claim to meet standards but definitely don't, and of those some of them were wildly off in terms of the conductor diameter, which could definitely cause something like you've described.If neither of those are the case, it may be that you've been unlucky and have a faulty punch down tool or a faulty panel, but if all connectors on the panel are exhibiting this problem, I'd suggest the former. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliant! The comms cabinet handles all of the HDMI Matrices running over Cat6 to each of the bedrooms and runs the data to the office and POE cameras throughout the house.This rack is a good quality one and I cannot fault it in the slightest.
