WowShe sounded so well, no illness no gasping for breath.And we spoke for half an hour, I said mum I want to speak to you all night she said no Stephen you have to get some sleep because I'd only had 10 hours sleep in 4 days, I said mum I'm so worried about you she said Stephen it's okay I'm alright get some sleep. I told her I loved her and she said the same and we said goodnight. And that night I had peace of mind and slept for 4 hours and next day I watched my mum die for 5 hours BUT had she not had this phone we'd never have had that conversation and I'd probably have slept through the alarm.So thanks Doro for making an amazing phone with great battery life ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent phone *by X***H on 25 January 2019* This phone is excellent. I spent ages looking for a decent ‘dumbphone’. I’d had good experiences with Alcatel in the past so I purchased one of theirs but the battery would only keep a charge for 24 hours. On standby ! It was difficult to find a Nokia or Alcatel phone that didn’t have a number of negative reviews (such as the phone dying after a few months). This Doro was the only phone I could find that seemed to have mainly positive reviews. I was worried about buying it because it seemed to be an ‘old person’s phone’ but I needn’t have worried. It’s fine. It looks like a normal ‘dumbphone’. Pretty much everything about it is good. The keys are a decent size and it’s just very easy to use all-round. Provided it keeps going and doesn’t suddenly die, I’d recommend it heartily. The only slight downside is that when you text, you don’t have a thread. Ie. if you text someone and they text you back, your text will be in the ‘Sent’ box, and their text will be in the ‘In’ box. It would be nice to have both the original txt and the reply in one place. But that’s a very minor problem – I’ve already got used to it.Although it has features which are targeted at elderly people, I’d recommend it to anyone, regardless of age. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to set up and even easier to use! *by L***E on 22 September 2019* Set up for my 80 year old dad, literally within ten minutes of the package arriving!Took it out of the box, inserted the battery and his existing '02 Classic 123' PAYG Sim card, turned it on, followed the set up wizard and ta-da, all done! All that was left was to fully charge it, which is done with a traditional 3 pin wall plug - no fancy docking station or pesky USB lead via a laptop, so all good there too.There's only a limited number of different coloured wallpapers and an even smaller selection of incoming call melodies, including a traditional ring tone. Note: You can't download any others as it doesn't connect via USB or the internet. He chose the one that was best suited for his hearing and eyesight (hideous to me, but he likes them!). I then programed the speed dials into the keys on the keyboard (A & B) so he can press these without have to dial long strings of numbers with the shaky hands he has sometimes.One of the best features is the 'assistance button' on the rear of the phone. When pressed, the phone sounds an alarm to alert the user it's been activated. The great thing is: if it's been pressed by accident the user can think "whoops", and cancel it by pressing the button to 'hang up a call' (red button) . Or, if they actually require assistance, the alarm sounds for about 5 seconds then turns off and immediately dials the first person nominated in the emergency contacts. If that person is unable to answer it calls the next on the list as programmed, and so on. You don't even need to hold the phone near your face - when the 'assistance button' is activated, it switches to hands-free mode automatically!We've had a few practice runs and he's now happily using the limited features he needs all by himself, including the speed dial facility and the assistance button (if required) only. He's never texted in his life, and has no desire to do so, but I tested it just for fun and found it a breeze to use. There's also a torch that's not too bright, but there if you really find yourself in need of one.The sound is very clear and loud. No crackling or echo. The buttons have a nice feel are a decent size and easily compressed. They light up too with the automatic backlight. You can also remove your network info from the front screen if you choose, leaving only essential info displayed - making the screen less cluttered for the non-technical among us.My only gripe would be with the back of the phone. I found it quite sleek, which could make it slippery. If this had a rubberised, or textured surface, I couldn't fault it at all. Considering it's marketed at seniors, surely this would be an important feature.Summary: All in all this is a cracking 'emergency' phone, which was bought to replace my Dad's TTfone clamshell type that stopped working after about 18 months - this Doro feels way more substantial.
