## Description

From the manufacturer The PKP 18 E glue gun The PKP 18 E from Bosch is a sturdy hot glue gun for DIY enthusiasts that assures clean working and stable adhesive bonding. The electronically controlled heating element ensures that the tool heats up and is ready to use in moments. Technical data Gluing capacity: 20 g/min Glue stick diameter: 11 x 45–200 mm Working temperature: 200 °C Weight: 0.35 kg More Information Glues (almost) everything This glue gun is suitable for bonding a wide range of materials. It can effortlessly glue wood, leather, carton, paper, textiles, cork and stone, as well as glass and metal. Precise metreing The mechanical feed system means that glue can be metreed for different applications with complete precision and applied evenly. The hot glue nozzle can be wiped clean in a matter of moments. Featuring a folding wire stand and drip lock The folding wire stand means that the glue gun can be set to one side quickly and safely. Thanks to the drip lock, unwelcome drips on the PKP 18 E are effectively minimised. Durable tool for domestic use The PKP 18 E is practical for small repair jobs in the home and also offers a long useful life after initial use. The controlled heating element provides a consistent working temperature, ensuring efficient bonding. For both small and large gluing jobs The tool can be used with glue cartridges with a diameter of 11 mm and length of 45–200 mm – for small, as well as larger and more complex gluing jobs. Easy handling This hot glue gun is built with reinforced polyamide housing and weighs just 350 g which, in combination with its streamlined design, means that it fits very comfortably in your hand. In addition to this, the extra-length nozzle also makes it possible to create adhesive bonds in hard-to-reach areas.

Review: A bit slow to warm up, but the long nozzle is excellent - This is a very good glue gun, and I am slightly embarrassed to admit I've bought 3 of them so far, for use with different types of glue stick. What I like:- The Long nozzle. Very often, I've struggled to use other glue guns because they don't allow me to place glue accurately into awkward areas. This glue gun solves that with a very useful long nozzle that allows you to place glue precisely in little nooks and crannies. Seriously, don't under-estimate how useful that is. The Trigger: The trigger action is smooth and allows a (user-dependent) consistent bead of glue to be applied. The Lead: The lead is a little over 2m long which is long enough to be useful without being a pain to store. What bothers me:- Slow Heat-up: The glue gun has quite a slow heat-up time, in my opinion. It's actually not that bad for a mains glue gun, but I also own Bosch's excellent cordless glue pen (for 7mm glue sticks) which heats up in 15 seconds and is very quick and convenient to use. Wasteful feed mechanism: This is why I own more than one of these guns. The feed mechanism pushes from the back, and so you have to feed a fair bit of a glue stick in before any glue comes out. Then if you want to change the type of glue stick, you have a fair bit of the existing glue stick to get through before the new colour/type of glue emerges. This is particularly annoying when you have to feed a new stick in to allow the gun to push through the first stick, and then the new stick can't be removed easily without risk of damaging the feed mechanism. This is more of a pain than it sounds, a decent glue sticks aren't that cheap and cheap glue sticks do not perform well. Hence, I ended up buying another couple of these guns when desertcart had a sale on. All in all, the ownership experience is pretty good. The glue-gun works well and if you register promptly after purchase, Bosch give you an extended 3-year warranty. Even at full price, they're fair value, given the usefulness of the long nozzle and that 3-year warranty, but keep an eye on the price, because they do drop under £20 fairly regularly (though not for long) and they're a bargain if you can grab one when they do. Do consider the Bosch Glue pen too though, as the rapid heat-up time and cordless convenience make a really appealing package.
Review: Excellent Glue gun probably better than most - I have used this hot-glue gun for about a year now. I don't like reviewing after just one or two uses as I feel some things don't always show up straight away. Overall 4.5 stars (can't show half stars so it looks like a 5*) because it's pretty good but has a couple of small niggles. Would I buy again if it broke - Yes. Why? a) - it seems quite well made, robust and has thus far proved reliable. b) - because it puts out a relatively high volume of adhesive, quickly - meaning I can stick quite a lot of stuff, quickly, without waiting for glue to heat up. c) - it uses 11mm diameter sticks rather than the 7mm sticks (i.e. as found in 'toy' glue guns like the sub £5 model I replaced with this Bosch PKP 18E). That's more than twice the cross sectional area so more than twice the capacity output all other things being equal. d) - heater is greater wattage than many competitors (so quicker start and more volume all other things being equal). f) - access to longer sticks (in 11mm) so less time spent inserting new 'follow on' stick. g) - has a slim metal nozzle (easier to poke into narrow slots) which feels more durable than competitors using plastic. I did a fair bit of research before buying and concluded that this was one of better models available - notably the heater in this was bigger than most and it struck a reasonable balance between cost and likely performance. It's not perfect so half a star off for small niggles.... 1) won't easily stand up and often falls over - a bench stand or holster might help - but would add bulk and cost. 2) dribbles a small amount of glue from nozzle, when left standing - workaround is to switch off when not using, but this necessitates waiting up to a minute before one can re-use 3) won't easily store back in supplied box as power cord is a tad too stiff (needed to cover power use) and plus a bit big Overall niggles are minor and not 'show stoppers'. Overall this Bosch PKP 18ER is significantly better than my 'toy' 7mm stick gun it replaced. Because it works properly I find I use it a lot more often than ever I did my cheap/nasty 'toy' glue gun. Bottom line if you are serious about using hot-melt glue then get a serious industrial grade glue dispenser gun.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many Watts please?**
A: It uses 200W when heating up after first switch on and then 16W to maintain the heat. I'll just add that this is a great hot glue gun and the long nozzle is a real bonus for getting into tight corners etc.

**Q: How long is the power cord please?**
A: Just measured it, just over 6ft.been using it all evening good gun best I've ever owned and I've had a fair few.

**Q: will this take the 11.2 glue sticks as they appear to be cheaper**
A: hi no dont think so pamie,i have used loctite 11mm sticks they come in a six pack, the cheapist i have found to my surprize are at halfords £3-99 great price work a treat with the bosch gun stick nearly everything going,it does not have the size on the pack so check they are the right ones.hope this helps, sorry amazon but they are the cheapest i have found so far.regards terry

**Q: Does this glue gun come with a storage case/box?**
A: No mate, it does not. That said it's a very good glue gun. I use it to build foamboard planes and this is the first gun I've found that doesn't seem to run out of puff midway through a big glue join like a wing etc.
