The tools are surprisingly good for cutting and making interesting surface details. The dough isn’t sticky, but seems quite stiff at first. Once worked with the hands however, it does become very pliable and a pleasure to work with. I experienced no colour transfer. It has been non stop, badges (with safety pins in the back), keyrings, jewellery and other random models. We used it for homework to make a sword in the stone and my daughter has been making mini burgers on request from her friends at school. My son has built a model house and initials of his name- the list goes on. It is easily pliable with a little body heat. Cooks in around half an our and is hot for a little while after. It doesn't go off or hard easily, even when badly wrapped. It doesn't crumble or anything- for these reasons it is already preferable to playdough! It has so many colours. Although the skin colour, bread colour and white ran out pretty quick. Plenty of pink and green left now. I'm not overly keen on the smell of it when it's cooking but apart from that, it's pretty faultless and great fun. I even find myself joining in. Is it meant to be like that, I've been needing it for 10 minutes and it's still hard to use?** A: You may have had a dodgy batch it should be fairly soft before you use it and only hard once you've baked it which will be solid and non malleable afterwards. **Q: Is this polymer clay easy to knead like fimo soft or is it like regular fimo which some children find quite hard work? thanks** A: I found it really easy to work with and so did my son. I think it would be a great gift for children of all ages and can be made into so many things. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty good for the money and rewards some initial effort. *by C***B on 11 December 2018* I initially bought this as a cheap way of dipping my toe into the world of polymer clay as I'd never played with the stuff before. I've now bought five lots so far! The blocks aren't huge given you get 26 colours, and some of the colours are a bit naff (useful as filler, though), but there's a usable quantity for a beginner or child. I've only made relatively simple beads, so far, but I've found it fun enough to start getting various tools and 'proper' clay (Fimo and Cernit). I also discovered that several of the the brighter colours fluoresce quite spectacularly under U.V., so, if like me, you desire adornments well suited to the rave environment, this could be worth a go ;-) The colours do vary somewhat from batch to batch, though, so if you want an exact colour match you may be disappointed. I've not had a problem with any of the clay being hard and dry, as some people have; if anything I've had exactly the opposite issue. First batch wasn't too bad but all the subsequent ones have been decidedly sticky. This is easily remedied however. Just roll the clay out thin and place it between two sheets of paper (I've been recycling envelopes and such-like but beware that some inks will get drawn into the clay, probably inkjet printed) and place under something like a heavy book. This will leach out the excess plasticiser. Check regularly so it doesn't get over-leached. If that /does/ happen all is still not lost. Clay that has ended up dry and crumbly (either as it arrived or due to over-leaching) can still be recovered. I've had good results using tiny amounts of petroleum jelly but light mineral oil or even baby oil can be used - just start with a drop or so and work it into the clay; add more if needed and keep working until you have something malleable again. Warming the clay, with your hands or even sitting on it for a few minutes first, helps (not unwrapped, obviously!). I should also point out that, while it is perfectly fine to mix different brands of polymer clay, if you mix this stuff with Fimo, even after it has been leached, you end up with something /really/ too soft and it then has to be leached all over again. Not tried mixing it with the Cernit clay but I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens there. Another minor issue is the packaging of the clay blocks; the plastic wrapping is about as small as it can be and the sticky tape used is, well... sticky. I replaced it with magic tape straight away. As I had several batches I decided to amalgamate them and wrap the new larger blocks in cling film. This started to go rather softer and stretchier after a while so I re-wrapped using some cheap plastic wallets I had, cut up and sealed with magic tape, then put each block in its own resealable baggie. So, overall verdict: cheap and cheerful but pretty good value if you don't mind a little potential effort making the clay useable. I'll happily buy more at some point just for the fluorescent colours.
