The label says: Ammonium Alum (natural mineral salts) and says that it is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. There is more on the label but the print is very small. I have been using such products for years. Each crystal lasts for a very long time. Hope that helps. **Q: Is there plastic in the packaging please?** A: Yes as isvisible in the current packaging imagw. It was initially packaged in brown paper card. Objectif: reduce to max the liquide to travel wih and if possible not having to buy stuff often. I came across various review regarding he chrystal rock and decided to give it a try. I found it quite usufull. It did not take away perspiration(which is good as it helps to regulate my body temperature) but it help to prevent odours from bacteria I tried it for several weeks under various conditions (3 peaks challenge, snowdonia scrambling or every day job as a nursey teacher) and I must say I'm quite happy with it. It does the job.(confirmed by colleague). It will definately be wih my during my trip 4 stars only probably not due to this product itself but the product in general.
