Marbles are faster than the car and jump the track easily. **Q: is it too difficult for a 6 year old?** A: My son received it at about 6 1/2. He liked building with it for fun, but without the guiding cards. As he got more familiar with the pieces, he started trying the easier builds and really enjoyed it. I would say if your 6 year old is a builder and already completing Lego sets for older kids (8+), they would enjoy growing with this game. Hope that helps. **Q: Can 2 sets connect together?** A: that is a great question! there is no scaffolding to connect the black bottoms but there is nothing preventing you from putting them side by side and attaching the pieces from one set into the next **Q: For older kids, such as 5th graders, do you recommend combining 2 kits for them to have more pieces to work with or is 1 kit enough (won't be bored)?** A: Not really. This is a game, not a building set. You get cards that show you the puzzle and you have to "solve it" by building something that meets the build requirements (i.e. what shows on the card). So having more pieces won't do anything extra for those puzzles. Now, if you want to approach this as a builder set and just let the kids build what ever they want, then more pieces could be good. Important to say this is a challenge game, not a toy. Similar logic puzzle to Rush Hour. Can play alone or together. The age range is 6+. Although a 6 year old may enjoy playing it (although would need help), each puzzle needs setting up, and they wouldn’t be able to do it independently, fitting the pieces together could be trick for younger ones too. However, playing with assistance would be fine. Suits older kids too.
