Review: G903 and PowerPlay Pad - Awesome piece of mouse technology! - G903 Review: My Logitech G602 mouse finally started to die with the middle mouse button not always registering when pressed or staying pressed down when held. I was never truely happy with the mouse wheel on the G602 though so I decided it was time to get a new mouse rather than replace it with the same. It wasn't long before I came across the Logitech G903 mouse which is one of their latest wireless gaming mice. One thing I loved about the G602 was the incredibly long battery life so this was something I really wanted again and it looked like this mouse goes even further by using PowerPlay technology so that it charges automatically on the mouse mat - that's impressive stuff! PowerPlay recharging functionality does come at a massive premium though as you'll need a mouse that supports the PowerPlay charging technology as well as the Logitech PowerPlay Wireless Charging pad. Essentially, once you have both products and use them together you will never need to plug the mouse in to recharge again. If you are not planning on forking out for the PowerPlay pad you would be better of buying the G900 mouse instead which is pretty much the same as the G903 but without the PowerPlay charging functionality. Logitech also claim to have really nailed down their wireless technology to the extent that it is better than some hard wired mice! A very bold claim indeed but for the G903 Logitech's LightSpeed wireless technology delivers 1ms latency, 1000 reports/sec rate and upto 12000 DPI sensitity which is very impressive. On arrival the mouse arrived in a very nice box which certainly gives a premium feel to the product - and so it should as this mouse is definitely in the premium price range! Inside the box is the mouse, USB lead, basic instructions and a small plastic box that contains the USB dongle, an adapter to connect the dongle to the cable, the optional mouse weight and spare buttons/blanking plates. The spare buttons/blanking plates allow you to choose to have no side buttons, 2 buttons on the left hand side, 2 buttons on the right hand side or 2 buttons on both sides - a really neat feature that will probably be welcomed by left handed people. The down side to this is that you only get 2 buttons per side which may take some getting used to you're used to more side buttons. I find the mouse initially took a little getting used to compared to the G602 but after a few days of use I absolutely love it now. It feels quite nice in the hand with a matt plastic finish. The buttons are easy to click and sound and feel like they are evenly configured. The mouse wheel is quite firm and in ratchet mode each ratchet click is quite loud compared to other mice I've used. Just below the mouse wheel is a button that allows you to toggle between ratchet and free spin mode. Ratchet mode provides accuracy in games and free spin mode is great for whizzing down long webpages or documents etc. It would be nice if the mouse could toggle between ratchet and free spin depending on how fast you spin the wheel, like on some of Logitech's productivity mice, but to be fair I will mostly use ratchet mode anyway. The mouse wheel can also be pressed left or right which can be remapped to pretty much anything using the Logitech Gaming Software. Just below the mouse wheel toggle button is 2 buttons for adjusting the DPI on the fly which is quite cool but something I don't tend to adjust much after I've found my happy place but of course you can remap these buttons to pretty much anything else. The mouse works perfectly with the Logitech Gaming Software and can either use onboard memory to store different profiles or use the software for automatic application detection to load different profiles depending on the game or application that is running. The mouse has an RGB illuminated 'G' logo which can be controlled from the Logitech Gaming Software and configured to sync with other Logitech G devices. There are also some LEDs that illuminate when you change the DPI which gives a visual indication of the DPI you are currently using. The RGB logo is located under where your palm sits so you won't actually see it when you are gaming. Of course all the RGB lighting can be turned off if it's not your thing or if you want to preserve your battery life. I'm using the G903 with the PowerPlay Wireless Charging pad so can't comment on the battery life of the mouse in standalone mode. I can confirm that the mouse works perfectly with the PowerPlay pad and always has more than 90% charge, even after several hours of use. I'm using the fastest report rate and messing with the RGB at the moment so probably drawing as much power as the mouse can and it's working flawlessly. So I've reeled off plenty of positives about this mouse but there are a couple of negatives for me. I find that every mouse I've ever bought has had to make a compromise in one way or another, thankfully the compromises on this mouse are far less: It's really expensive for a mouse, especially if you opt to get the PowerPlay charging pad too. I paid nowhere near the mouse RRP of £149 but it was still nearly on the wrong side of £100 for a mouse! There is nowhere to store the USB receiver which is absolutely crazy - my G602 had a little compartment in the bottom for the adapter and even the new Logitech G Pro gaming mouse has this feature too. At least Logitech have provided a small box to the keep the receiver in but it's another thing to carry around if you plan on taking the mouse around with you. The middle mouse button is quite firm to activate... I suspect I've not got used to it yet but occaisionally I'll accidentally press the wheel to the left or right just before I press the middle button. If you map the wheel side presses to certain keystrokes you may accidentally activate it before pressing the middle mouse button. Looks like I've waffled on again so probably best summarise! Pros: - Excellent build quality and feels nice and well made - Never needs plugging in to charge or batteries changing when used with the PowerPlay charging pad - 2 button side panels that can be added or removed to both the left and right hand side of the mouse (for a total of 4 buttons) - Mouse wheel has ratchet and free spin mode (manually needs toggling) - Mouse wheel has left and right tilt click - Incredibly responsive using LightSpeed wireless technology for high report rate, high DPI and low latency - Integrates perfectly with Logitech Gaming Software - RGB lighting that is customizable with Logitech Gaming Software Neutral - RGB lighting for the 'G' logo is located where your palm sits so won't be visible when in use Cons: - Expensive - Nowhere to store the USB receiver which could easily be lost - Middle mouse ia a bit firm and easy to accidentally press it left or right before pressing it down PowerPlay Pad Review: I purchased the Logitech PowerPlay Pad to go with a new Logitech G903 mouse and I have definitely not been disappointed so far. Whilst I agree that this is an expensive nice-to-have accessory I have found it offers me amazing piece of mind knowing the battery in my mouse is not suddenly going to run out during use and require charging or replacing batteries. Coming from a G602 mouse I wasn't actually changing the batteries very often but I used rechargeable batteries in that mouse and the Logitech software struggled to detect those properly... on more than one occasion they suddenly needed replacing - normally when I was expecting it least! The PowerPlay pad arrived in quite a large box 373 x 350 x 36mm so definitely not going to fit through your letterbox! The box itself is actually quite high quality and made from very thick card - it really does add to the premium feel of the overall product. Inside the box is the PowerPlay pad itself, the PowerPlay charging 'PowerCore Module' as well as 2 different surfaces (hard and fabric) to use. These mats alone cost a few quid so for me it helps justify the cost slightly, even with my 'man maths'. I really like the fabric surface at the moment - it basically feels like the oldskool mouse mats (they used to cost about £2 and the cloth was mounted to a 5mm thick piece of foam). I've read a few reviews that have said the fabric easily peels away from the surface and that does concern me somewhat. I also read that Logitech apparently revised this pad to reduce the fraying on this pad but I've not been able to clarify if that's true or not. The fact of the matter is that the material is glued to a piece of PET plastic and the mat has been cleanly cut out of that, with nothing protecting the edges. As a result the edges are exposed and if you keep catching them then it will definitely fray. Logitech could have easily fixed this by stitching around the outside edge or dipping it in some kind of sealant... but they have chosen not to. Perhaps Logitech will release revised mats at a later date that fix these potential issues? The PowerPlay pad works perfectly with the Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) but the options are understandably quite limited. You can control the lighting of the Logitech 'G' logo on the pad, which syncs with most other Logitech Gaming products, but that's about it. The new version of the software allows you to disable the charging ability of the PowerPlay pad but I don't feel that's of much use to me at the moment. The PowerPlay pad connects to the computer using a nylon braided USB lead. The PowerPlay pad also contains a built-in USB receiver so my G903 mouse connects directly to it without needing the supplied USB dongle to be connected. A massive convenience in that regard but also potential to lose the actual USB receiver for the mouse as it's very small and cannot be concealed within the mouse itself! I managed to purchase the Logitech PowerPlay pad and G903 mouse for considerably less than the RRP of £249 for the pair and even then it was still quite expensive. However, this is bleeding edge wireless mouse technology and you never need to think about charging the mouse again. I love the convenience and piece of mind it offers me so I'm very happy with my purchase. I hope Logitech's new mice are compatible with this pad so I can take advantage of those when they come out. Pros: - Never need to plug the mouse in or change its batteries again - Large surface area of 340x280mm - Built in wireless receiver - Comes with both a soft fabric and hard play surface - RGB illuminated G logo (if that's your kind of thing!) - Works seamlessly with Logitech G Software Cons: - Fabric surface has exposed sides which will fray or pull away from the base - Expensive but this is bleeding edge mouse technology
Review: Love It - This mouse mat is excellent. I already own one this is my second purchase. It's not to replace the first one but is for a second pc in the house. It is an excellent quality mouse mat with multiple surfaces depending on your preference. It charges your mouse fast and your mouse also syncs to the mouse mat for a better connection to your pc. This does ship in the product box so everyone can see what you've ordered. My order went missing, seemingly delivered but have checked everywhere and with all my neighbours who are trustworthy by the way but I couldn't locate it even though it said delivered. Thankfully I contacted customer services and the sent out a replacement without any hassle so I now have my mouse mat. This time round I received a one time pass for the driver so I knew I would receive it securely this time. I suspect the delivery driver of the fist one has a nice new mouse mat at my expense, obviously this is just my opinion. I highly recommend that desertcart use a pass code for this item or put it in a plain box so only you know what's being delivered. I am just grateful that desertcart organised a replacement immediately so thumbs up for desertcart customer service

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great mat, and the mouse charging is a great feature
*by G***T on 23 September 2023*

This was a purchase for my son, after getting the same mat for me several years ago. They're a fantastic gadget, you never have to charge up your Logitech mouse with a cable. Another great feature is that these have an integrated wireless received for compatible Logitech mice, which means you can use the same mouse with 2 different devices. I have the mat connected to gaming PC, and when in use, the mouse pairs with the mat's receiver. The mouse's own USB receiver is plugged into my HP Thunderbolt dock for my work laptop, and it connects to it when the laptop's in use. Has really cut down on cable clutter. I use the softer mesh surface instead of the plastic one, as the edges proved very sharp, and I'd end up with cuts on my wrists after long gaming sessions. That probably says more about my sloppy mouse grip rather than the mat surface though. Would definitely recommend them, and if either of our mats ever fail, I'd be replacing them with the same again. Heartily recommend this, it's a
