Review: Accurate Readings and No Calabration Needed - MUST HAVE - - I purchased this for my son’s room as he suffers from allergies and asthma. I was highly impressed with the accuracy of the temperature and the humidity readings. It’s VERY important to keep the humidity at 25 to 30 percent for us. Knowing when to turn on the machines that generate a lot of energy to keep the levels safe was key. This meter was tested against a meter by a professional Industrial Hygieniest and I was told the readings are within the standard deviation and accurate for home use and my needs. I felt relieved that our meters were at times the same and only off by ONE DEGREE TEMPERATURE wise in ONE ROOM. I would highly recommend this if you suffer from allergies or asthma or you want to control the humidity in your home. Some may not know but ... increased humidity and warm temperatures and the moisture produced may lead to excelletated mold and fungi growth. I use this with a dehumidifier and an air purifier with a HEPA filiter and I feel the air is cleaner and less PPM’s that my son is breathing in. I noticed also that the memory function is very functional for storing the data as it changes. This helps us with symptom control as the environment changes. I can’t say enough how this little device has helped my son and myself in accurately knowing the readings and keeping on top of his allergies and asthma. I feel this is a tool to gage the use of the dehumidifier vs constantly running it. The humidity reading on the dehumidifier is EXACTLY the same as the reading on this AcuRite -which makes me believe this device has a relatable and accurate measurement. It is small enough to blend into his bedside table and I’ve placed it OPPOSITE corner of the dehumidifier for more valid and reliable results / readings. Review: Favorite new product! - I bought 2 of these for 2 different rooms in my house. I wanted to be able to know the humidity in the rooms I have houseplants in. I love that it records the high and lowest humidity and temperature so I can see just how much the humidity and/or temperature changed throughout the day/night. It also has a readout telling me that the room is "humid", "ideal", or "dry". I have moved these in different rooms and noticed the immediate change in readings so these work instantly and seem to be pretty accurate. Press the long tab on the back at the top and it will open up a tad. Now turn the AcuRite 180 degrees over so that the face is facing the floor. A small metal stand should drop out. From there you are all set. I have found that the work quite well. However, replacement batteries - as I recall - were a tad hard to find. Maybe it is just me being a non tech guy. But it lasts for months, maybe years. It's nice and easy to read. I would like it if the temperature was more prominent. Compared to the humidity number and the word HUMID or whatnot the temperature number is tiny. I would also like a way to hang it from the wall. I like the magnet but don't use it in my kitchen, the kickstand works great but it takes up desk space.
