You can read a lesson (on bidding, playing trump, playing no trump, using take out doubles, ducking, playing conventions, etc) and then do exercises with the computer dealing you cards. When you finish the exercise, you are told you played your hand correctly if you did or it points out where you went wrong and gives you an opportunity to replay the hand and get it right. I consider myself to be one of the better players in my bridge group. I used to use Hoyle for practice and to keep my card counting skills sharp. The problem with Hoyle is that the defense is weak, so you will get 1 to 2 extra tricks on each contract. This teaches you to over bid your hand.I play what used to be called "Standard American" and is now known a "Yellow Card". I assumed I could set this convention for myself and my computer partner.Nope.Go To Bridge uses infuriating bidding conventions. For example, If I double a 1 club opener (takeout) and my partner has 5 diamonds to the ace, I expect a 1 diamond response. Instead I get a 2 club bid meaning either a control in clubs or no available bid (according to the explanation on the right of the screen). So we end up in no trump and get 5 club tricks ripped off the top, because my partner had a worthless doubleton in clubs!?!Defense is no better. On the rare occasions I get a defensive crossruff going my partner may stop, before either one of us runs out of trump. Also, my partner NEVER tries to set up a finesse for me, and IGNORES high-low signals.After each hand, the program compares how your bidding and playing to the computer expert "Argentine".I thought I was going to learn something here.
