It is essentially just a vinegar and baking soda reaction with food color in this case. It does have that glow in the dark dye to give you a bit more of a cool eruption in the dark. This particular set is well build in terms of the volcano it is a pretty well detailed and for the most part is very easy to clean once you are done which is great. It does come does come with goggles to protect your child's eye and give them the experience of being a scientist. It is a bit odd that it does not provide you vinegar but baking soda it does. You pretty much just do the same thing you would with any baking soda and vinegar volcano. The only thing is you add the dye to the backing soda before you add the vinegar (there is a measuring cup for this). It does not take too much to make this work but it is over pretty quick. Overall I think this is a simple volcano set. The dye does give you a nice glow in the dark feel and it does not take much to make it work. You do not have to stir the dye into the baking so as the reaction pretty much does that.
