The stock sounds are decent, although it lacks many natural sounding kits but with the user presets I was able to build several kits using samples I already own, such as Gretsch kit, Ludwig kit, Taiko drums and roto toms. I use this for recording natural sounding fills over top of programmed loops to give my recordings a more organic feel. The pads are very responsive play very precise. The unit itself is very sturdy and well built. All in all, this was a wonderful addition to my home studio. It's a little difficult to follow the convoluted UI, but after working with it for a few months and going over the manual many times, I understand the logic of why they did what they did, but ultimately it's a pretty bad and unintuitive layout. That aside, the playability is what is of primary importance to me and it shines in that area. Very flexible and controllable. I'm using the Yamaha hi-hat trigger pedal and a Roland kick drum trigger which both work flawlessly. Though don't expect to use a Roland hi-hat trigger pedal with this unit as it won't work. Connectivity with my sequencer (protools) is flawless. Good drivers and phone support is good.
