## Questions & Answers

**Q: are these good for multiple-day mountain hiking trips?**
A: No. They would not be comfortable enough in my opinion. I wouldn't consider them a hiking boot.

**Q: Are these good for daily use at work? I'm on my feet 9+ hours daily as a manager in retail and need something durable and comfortable.**
A: Yes, these boots are very comfortable and durable. However, for some reason, the suede leather version of this boot is much heavier than the regular leather style. As if they added more weight to the sole?? Not sure why they would do it. I wore my Nellie's every day while working in a warehouse and they were better than any other shoe I found.

**Q: Do these boots have good arch support?**
A: They soles are kind of rigid.

**Q: do they have a steel toe?**
A: no they do not have a steel toe.

TL;DR: Timbs are great. Buy them.

I've resisted buying Timberland boots for years. I have a disability; it's impossible or difficult for me to wear most boots, and I was 99.99% sure these wouldn't be any different. When my old rainboots bit the dust, I caved and bought these hoping they might fit the bill for waterproof boots. I've been on the hunt for "stompy" boots for almost five years, and everything I found was impossible to wear. A friend assured me these weren't heavy boots and I should be able to wear them. Well okay, but probably not. I chose the Nellie boots because I figured the ankle boot would be easier to pull on, and I liked how they looked with skinny jeans.I prepared myself to sadly print another return label and cry over my stupid feet, but wow, was I wrong. Now I understand why people wear these; they're comfortable and easy to pull on, durable, waterproof, and go with just about any outfit I could put together. These boots aren't heavy at all, and I have no trouble lifting my feet even with my terrible ankles. The tongue is attached to the inside of the shoe for waterproof-ness, but the top of the boot opens with plenty of space for even my inflexible feet. The shoes didn't come laced all the way up; I relaced them all the way because I thought they were a bit floppy at first, but with tight laces they fit fine. The tongue of the shoe does rub on your ankle. I wish there had been more padding behind the tongue to prevent this. Go for the regular boot style if you're planning on wearing these sans socks. The good news is that a thick sock works fine to protect your ankle. I also wish the laces were longer. I know I laced mine through every hole and that's not the "cool" thing to do; the laces seem to anticipate you'll lace them through every other hole, and they actually come in-box like that. Whatever. I prefer not tripping over myself. You know what isn't fashionable? The hospital bill I'd be paying after I ate pavement. Some reviewers said to size down, but I bought my normal 6.5 size and didn't have any issues. I have plenty of space for thick socks when it's cold, but they still fit if I wear normal weight socks.Buy these suckers. They're comfy, lightweight, and basically indestructible. Plus you'll look fly, or whatever the kids say these days.

    MUST BREAK IN before wearing!

*by C***X on Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2021*

I was so excited when I opened the box & saw my “Tims” They’re a rich color & looked amazing. As I tried them on, I noticed they were very stiff & painfully tight. I attempted to walk around, to get a feel for them after I laced them up. But the vice-grip they had on my feet wasn’t allowing it. I could barely stand or walk in them at all. I was certain I would return them. I was disappointed because I really wanted to keep them. The next day I found an effective & easy way to break in your Timberland boots, so that they conform to your feet. This is important so that you don’t get blisters or painful rubbing. Squeeze your boots on with your thickest pair of Socks. Walk around for a few hours indoors. (At first, it may be pretty uncomfortable. It may pinch or even hurt. Don’t give up! This will slowly go away the longer you wear them & heat them.) While wearing boots schedule a couple of blow drying sessions. Take a blow dryer, in a HOT setting and direct the blast of hot air towards the areas where you feel discomfort and/or pinching, for 20 seconds. (Don’t worry. The heat will not damage or discolor the leather! It will safely stretch the leather:) Walk around immediately after each of the blow dryer sessions. Be sure to allow the areas that are heated to cool off before removing the boots! (I highly recommend a visit to Timberland website, as they have several recommendations on how to safely stretch & conform their boots. Don’t try any alterations to your new boots without personally researching them first.)It took me 3 hours & about 4-blow dryer, hot air applications to adequately break in my boots. This really worked! My boots looked slightly creased & conformed into the shape of my feet. However, the color looked brand new. Now they fit like they were made for just for me!

    Timberland footwear

*by K***S on Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2020*

Timberland boots are the best. My first pair have lasted over 10yrs and still wearable in dry weather. The sole is starting separate so it leaks a wee bit. My second pair, a beautiful golden nubuck with white trim is only for shopping and nice events but as comfortable as can be. I just bought this pair for my all weather boot to walk the dog, garden and plenty of other outside work. They fit great, and the tread is great for gripping any type of land. Unlike the other boots, the tough doesn't not have any extra padding, so you will want to apply mink oil/leather softener so it doesn't rub against your ankle. (I had ankle surgery making that particular area more sensitive than rest of foot.)So you can say I'm a solid Timberland buyer and product believer. The price is good, they wear well, are comfortable and will last. My only complaint is that they don't come in Women's size 12 and very few are available in wide widths. Timberland could gain alot of women customers if they expanded their sizes!
