The white pad is for polishing to bring out the shine with something like m 205 but it does have a light cut for fine swirl marks. **Q: Do these pads stick to a orbital sander?** A: They have a Velcro backing. The pads are the "furry/loop" part. You need the backing plate (most are yellow) that attaches to the orbital sander. **Q: how do you clean them** A: This all depends on if you just want to clean them, or clean and rejuvenate them. If you just want to clean them and aren't worried about the foam pads tearing or wearing out then a good (mild) dish soap like Dawn will clean them. However a good Polishing and Buffing Pad Conditioner will do so much more. By using a Polishing and Buffing Pad Conditioner you will reduce friction so the pad will be less susceptible to tearing. Lubricated pads cut and polish with less wear and tear on the pad. The light conditioning lubricants inside add extra surface protection by reducing dry friction while polishing. A good Polishing and Buffing Pad Conditioner works with lubricants in the products you are using, providing extra needed lubrication to protect against micro-marring and the possibility of burning paint through friction. Cost about the same as the Dawn soap alone does but works so much better and the pads last longer with it too. Cleans microfiber cloths and wool pads as well (do not use regular soaps on microfiber cloths because they will get gummed up). Once the pads have been cleaned shake them a few times to purge any water left inside the pad, and then let them dry in the sun for a few hours (velcro side facing down).
