That is what my box says Also, there is no mention of it removing bacteria or giardia, which would be crucial in filtering non-potable water. Here is a direct quote from the Berkey water filter site. You will not see anything about these things on the FilterLogic info: Our Berkey water filter systems can be classified as a water purifier because our elements actually remove 99.9999999% of pathogenic bacteria (9-log reduction) and 99.999% of viruses which greatly exceeds the standards. **Q: Is it normal for the water to taste like charcoal for a while?
