I then connected my STM32 device and had zero issues recognizing the device and flashing it with the updated software. I should have just ordered this one from the start, but I thought I could avoid problems by using the official ST-Link/v2. Nope. The official device was apparently defective. It came with very old firmware that I was eventually able to update, but it never recognized the device I was trying to program. I tried using both VCC pins and every GND pin. Nothing worked. Learn from my experience, save yourself time and money and just order this. If you're afraid of getting a faulty unit order the 5-pack and you're still only spending 25% of what the official would cost you. (yes, I'm pretty annoyed at the time wasted trying to get the defective official product to work, but this review is my healing therapy).
