The stepless brightness adjustment can be useful to get just the right brightness, though it can be awkward at first to use. The colour modes actually make a difference for me. I've found myself using the yellow light for reading normal books, the middle setting for comic style books and I pretty much never use the normal setting. It has genuinely actually helped me sleep better rather thank keeping me awake like my old lights did. The sleep timer I haven't really used and can be annoying if you press it by accident as the light will then flash. The lock button is nice to have, it helps you avoid accidentally turning it on at the wrong time. I haven't had to charge it yet so I'm happy with the battery life but a heavier reader may have a different experience. The light covers even large volumes, however I do wish there was some sort of shade around the light as it can be too bright in the corner of your eyes while reading. The correct angle to cover the pages on bigger books often results in me needing to turn the brightness down to avoid the glare.
