I was a custom knifemaker for many years and I bought this tool for camping. I am 71 years old and took it out and drove some nails, drove in and pulled out some tent steaks, tried to split some wood. As stated in many reviews, it did not have a sharp edge. The grind on the edge was not even and also had a slight indentation on it. I did sharpen it and it preformed much better. The balance is great and just the right weight for the purpose it was designed. I am going to either make a kydex sheath or leather sheath for better safety. Should come with one as it is easy to remove the edge guard that came with it. All in all I am very satisfied with it.
