This style works with existing Decora outlets and plates. The “brush” style allows a tone of cables to come through will blocking the view of the hole into the wall cavity and makes it easy to “fish” the wire out. The advantage of an open hole with the aesthetics of a rubber gasketed plate. Other styles require pulling the wires through the plate and then attaching to the wall. You can still do that with this one if you prefer but you don’t have to.
