### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Revisit the old west
*by L***S on July 6, 2017*

If you like tales of the old west, especially if you like tales of the old west spiced with a bit of the bizarre or supernatural, you will enjoy these stories. The authors depict their setting well enough that you can practically taste the dust at the back of your throat. You may run across some familiar characters and even those that aren't familiar have excellent stories to tell.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A high-noon hootenanny with some familiar faces!
*by A***R on August 28, 2017*

This was a really, really fun anthology. Boop compiled a series of stories that gave your typical western story a very H.P. Lovecraft feel. Every story had a touch of creepy topped with a thick layer of smoke from a six-gun, and I'll be damned if it doesn't work beautifully. There's a great jump back in time for Monster Hunter (Correia) series fans, getting a look at how business was done under MHI's creator, Bubba Shackleford. Then a showdown starring Dan Shamble, Zombie PI, a character I was not at all familiar with, but I'm going to be picking up this series as soon as possible because this little tale was wonderfully weird and fun in a way I haven't experienced in awhile. As a huge Jim Butcher fan and even bigger fan of Harry Dresden, I found the Butcher tale to be a bit lacking. The Dresden Files are famous for their telling, and Harry's narration is just so damn believable you feel like you know him personally. This story stars a familiar character in the series (with a great cameo from a famous figure of the Old West), but I never felt the narration "felt" like the character it represented. It wasn't bad, by any means, but just felt like it could have been a bit stronger to give the narrating character a feel for who they really are.All in all you'll undoubtedly pick this up if you're a fan of any of the series that these short stories are a part of. And, because it's so well done, you'll probably be just as eager to pick up a few of the series that you haven't heard of before. This is the Old West at its Wildest and Weirdest. A must for fans of any of the series contained within, and a highly recommended pickup for fans of either (or both!) genres.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great set of weird westerns
*by J***F on August 4, 2017*

This anthology of "weird westerns" spans a wide range of stories. My favorite (and to be honest, the main reason I bought the anthology) was Larry Correia's story with Bubba Shackleford's Professional Monster Killers, which later became Monster Hunter International, the fictitious (obviously) company in his successful series. But to single out that one story should not be taken as a criticism of any others. The baddies ranged from the usual ghosts, vampires and zombies to various creatures from Native American legend. There's even a bit of steampunk thrown in. All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable book, and I would gladly buy a "volume 2" if one is ever published.
