It's brass, which contains zinc, and zinc and lead exist together. I wouldn't worry about it, though. It will be in a small quantity and shouldn't be an issue unless you have very acidic water. **Q: If this is attached to a pressure regulator valve, will the pressure regulator still do its job?** A: Yes. **Q: Can the splitter be used as one part goes to garden hose and another to washer?** A: I think a better choice is Melnor 65170AMZ 2 Way Lever Flow Through Valve Connector Bundle, Yellow, Black which is what I bought after buying the Hourleey. This one seized up and wouldn’t work at all. It is extremely difficult to turn on and off even brand new. Even a plumber neighbor couldn’t get it to stop leaking, guess that’s why they give you plumbers tape cause they know you will need it even with brand new washers. I think it’s not made well. If you have any difficult with hand strength, this is NOT what you want. But if you are talking about using with a washing machine — I would get a splitter that is made specifically for use with washing machine. I’m not sure why you need one — most washing machine connections have one spigot for the hot, and one for the cold. I don’t get why you would need this. But water pressure going on and off could cause this to Mis-operate, fall apart etc and end up with flooded floors and damage a whole lot of stuff in your home etc. . Good luck. **Q: How many Y valves are included in a purchase?** A: Exactly like the picture. One Y valve. You can hook two hoses at the same time.
