For the first time in many years my wife is now able to enjoy and distinguish "speech" from the background music broadcast from the TV. Clinically deaf in one ear - music distorts her ability to understand conversations in the other "good ear". And, as the result of wearing this headset, she now can adjust "UP" the speech or speaking range in the headphones while suppressing the music playing in the background by rotating the "Tone Control" knob - not the "Volume Control Knob". That means she can actually enjoy watching her TV Shows and enjoy them like like I do as a hearing person while keeping the volume in the headset constant to her liking while balancing the the music to speech ratio in the headset that works for her at the same time. And for once the TV commercial volume which is always louder in a headset is suppressed in the TV Ears Wireless Headphone System "as advertised". No more taking off a head set or turning down the volume during a TV commercial. And, no, I do now work for this company or am connected to the Amazon seller in any way. As a hearing person writing this review, curious, I tried the headset just to test the features myself. By rotating the "Tone Control" knob I am impressed how well the headset can suppress the music from the conversation and it clearly has the ability to push up the speaking range similar to how a hearing aid would work while keeping the volume constant. That feature alone is fantastic for a hearing impaired person who can not understand speech form a TV signal due to the music playing in the background. The only down side is that the devise is a line of sight technology which prevents one from walking around the house. Your basically stuck in the same room that the transmitter is connected to the TV. Some of the other wireless headsets I have purchased for my wife in the past allowed you to walk around the house and not loose the signal but, let me be clear, they did not come close to matching the features of this headset. The line of sight technology of this headset is the only limiting feature of this headset, in my opinion, and I will leave the technical stuff for some one else to comment on because I am into results. And, as far as the frequency of replacing batteries goes that is not an issue with us because the head set performance it is like the "Energizer Bunny" - it just keeps running and running which is chump change for the benefits of this TV Headphone system gives for the added quality of life it can potentially provide to a hearing impaired person. Conclusion: This Wireless Headphone system may not be for everyone but purchasing the TV Ears Wireless Headphone is truly a win win for my wife and myself because for the first time we now can enjoy watching TV together, eating popcorn, and she can understand and enjoy the TV dialog for herself in real time with out me coaching her in between those "Loud" TV commercials.One thing to consider about the TV Ears Wireless Headphone system if you are thinking about purchasing this system that caught my attention from the other reviews that may not be appreciated is that there is a lot more technology built into this head set system than any other wireless headsets sold on Amazon. Therefore, the “Ears System” may need a more precise alignment with respect to the “line of sight” requirement than the other headsets out on the market require and consider this: The TV Ears Wireless system is designed to help a hearing-impaired person or that’s how they advertised it. So, this systems approach is to take the quality of the existing audio signal from the output jack of a TV and MODIFY IT. Ask anyone who works with or sells TV’s, (there are always exceptions) that the audio electronic circuity inside the TV is probably the least high-end technology designed into the cheaper TV sets. Garbage in – garbage out which “hearing” people can easily compensate for with a TV’s audio’s system. That is not necessarily the case for the hearing-impaired folks especially when music is playing in the background. For this wireless system to take an existing audio “head set output signal” without the ability to start first with a good quality audio signal and try and “fix it” so a hearing-impaired person has a better chance to enjoy TV and then make it wireless to boot is a rather remarkable accomplishment – that’s in my opinion!
