First I tried a metal washer between that batteries and thread on cap, but I couldn't get the cap on. So I put the washer between the batteries and that solved the problem, but occasionally if I drop it, the flashlight will come on by itself. Think I used a #10 washer. Some tinfoil may work too. **Q: what is the weight limit?** A: I believe 300 lbs. I wouldn’t order this cane again. It falls over repeatedly even after I bought and changed the quad foot. Due to repeated falls the light stopped working soon after I got the cane. **Q: Need parts for pivoting quad base? My husband lost one of the bottom rubber parts.** A: If you type in replacement parts for big Alex cane, it gives you the parts.
