This project was completed by a kid.She was happy that you can choose the colors, and it was something the family can do together.The crystals grew just like the picture shows, and they are pretty durable (they won't crumble with a squeeze of your hand).The tree is about 2.5-3 inches tall, from the top of the crystals to the bottom of the 'planter'The planter/base is loose and the tree can easily tip over or falls out if tilted. You can fix it with hot glue, or stuff some padding inside to make the 'crystal tree' fit more snug. Consider adding some weight to the bottom of the 'planter' like a steel washer or something. It is an easy fix.The end result is a nice decoration and catches the light. I think that makes it worth the value, as it isn't just a disposable activity: you get a reward for the work! We've made a lot of crystals. I continue to be impressed how easily these few and how strong they are. They've tipped over multiple times and you can hardly tell. I wish the base were a bit more sturdy.
