A tap wrench would be the preferred tool to drive them, but the size/type/amount of space in which to work will determine which kind you can use. If you're in a large open area with no nearby obstructions to hinder turning it, you can use a full-sized tap wrench. If space is restricted (which is more common), you may need to use a small T-handle tap wrench. This latter type also is available with a ratcheting mechanism if you want that. I'm not fond of using an adjustable wrench; you give up some control and they're difficult to turn if space is limited, but if that's all you have at the time, use that. The T-handle is preferred as it can center all of the operator's force directly downward on the work at hand. Tap sockets are another good option when space is limited; they usually come as 1/4"- or 3/8"-drive for use with a ratchet. Depending on space, you may also need an extension to turn the easy-out. In a pinch, you could also use a 12-point socket that fits onto the easy-out's square drive. **Q: would this work on a sparkplug that has broken on a v8?** A: No it will not, but there is a specialized tool to remove a broken spark plug **Q: Will this help to remove an ngk c6hsa sprak plug that snapped on a motorcyle?** A: I am not familiar with the ngk c6hsa spark plug but I bought this set to pull a 496018S spark plug from a Briggs and Stratton. It worked well. **Q: i have a bolt that is probably 1/4 wide that has snapped off. will this work? Can i drill a starter hole?** A: all easy outs have to have a hole so they are able to grip the broken shaft. It is real important to make sure you make a sharp punch in the center of the broken bolt. You have to drill the hole in the exact center.
