Essentially, the Trezor stores your private keys on its own hardware such that the private key itself is never shared with either your computer or the internet -- transactions are signed on the Trezor using your private key, and then an encrypted, signed transaction string is fed back to your PC and then to the internet. In addition, a long pin with a variable number key is required for each transaction -- something a hacker will not be able to hack into unless they are holding the Trezor in their hands. Basically, it's belts and suspenders type of security, but given some of the heists of bitcoin that have taken place at the bigger online bitcoin exchanges, this is a great device for anyone who is looking to take more complete control over their coin security and essentially have a super secure environment for their coins.
