If what a previous review says about output not actually being 5.1 (but rather, upmixes), I'm betting that's the culprit, and my television just doesn't recognize the device as a result. Switching to 2.1 also did nothing.Just for fun, I also tried using an analog signal just to to see if the device was working at all. It does. Sort of. If the power's off. I moved the switch to 5.1 and selected the 5.1 configuration on both Linux and Windows, but playing an .ac3 (Dolby Digital) 5.1 test file proved that it discards all but the left and right channels and upmixes those to 5.1.
