### ⭐⭐⭐

Terrific guy - but a love triangle and a girl that was just too frustrating

Beware - slight spoilers - A love triangle - I hate love triangles - The author writes a perfect guy in this one but the girl is just too frustrating - leading him on while refusing to end things with her boyfriend. She actually says, "I'm not a cheater" right after she cheats with him. While it focuses mainly on the two main characters the 2nd guy is not written in a bad enough light to really make you dislike him enough and is seriously jerked around by the couple. It just really takes away from being excited about their relationship. Wish the main guy was in a different story but I just wasn't that excited when he gets the girl because she took forever to break up with her boyfriend while leading him on.

This was just NO ....for me

Let me begin that I love Vi Keeland. I love her books. It's a one click buy for me all the time. This title was in my library for a long time. I decided to read all other titles before this one plus some other ones from my other favorite authors, till I finally decided to read Throb and Beat. I loved Throb and so I thought this book which was continuation of Flynn's story was going to be just as good if not better. So Vi's writing is always flawless. This story begins well....and the characters are very likeable until about 30% mark. The main female role is a girlfriend of a famous rock star and also the object of Flynn's love affection. But she is so flip-floppy and so confused and when the story becomes this ugly love triangle it becomes really hard to read at least for me. I can't stand the cheating without any reason other than being un-decided. At one point the main heroine goes from being fondled by her want to be lover to being summoned to bed by her rightfully so jealous boyfriend only to be very puppy like and say...ok... and at that point any respect for Flynn goes out the window.... I get it ...it is a fiction story, but for me I like strong alpha characters not man who goes after someone else's girlfriend....That was just hard no for me. So to sum it up. The story is ok but not for me. Don't care for female characters who are undecided and very flip floppy.

    Over 5 Stars

After reading about Flynn in Vi Keeland's reality themed novel Throb, I just knew I wanted to see what a book would be like that focused solely on his life, his romance and his career. I was not disappointed; Beat might be one of the best books I've read so far this year! This book concentrates on the relationship between Flynn, Lucky and Dylan Ryder, the person standing between them literally and figuratively. Dylan is Lucky's current boyfriend, and the headliner on the tour Flynn is about to start. Not a very auspicious beginning, to say the least. This gives Beat all of the elements one could wish for in a great romance: jealousy, indecision and angst on the part of the main characters, coupled with great tenderness and an excess of feeling. In addition, Ms. Keeland is the queen of meaningful dialogue, gifting her characters with hip, relevant words that never seemed to be forced, or trite. Everything just seemed to seamlessly flow from page to page. It was such an enjoyable book that I found myself rereading it again, and again. Needless to say, I recommend everyone read Beat at least once to judge this truth for themselves.
