They are pretty solid, and should last a long time. They seem to be just as effective as the Macabee traps. Sometimes the trap does seem to be a bit too large, and I have to enlarge the hole to make room for the loop.+I have a large property and am constantly battling gophers. Both these and the macabee traps sometimes fail to kill the gopher. If you don't want to deal with that, wait a good 24 hours before checking the trap.I deducted one star because the traps are somewhat prone to rusting if left out in the rain, and one of mine was missing a metal piece so I was not able to set the trap. I made no effort to send it back or contact the seller because I can probably rig something up to get it to work.Macabee traps are completely powder coated and so they are a little more rust resistant, but these traps are so heavily built, I am sure they will last for a very long time, even if they rust a little. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Finally an Answer to Pocket Gophers! *by R***Y on Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2013* My first attempts were not successful. But after getting the special knife that the designer suggested, I caught 2 gophers in 2 days and find that there is far less damage to my property from these varmints. I look forward to using it some more but have to wait for them to re-appear. It's amazing how much damage 2 gophers can do. But with these traps, it's an adventure to "check my trap-line"! On my two catches, one was still alive and had to be killed.
