The high-temperature method preserves the copper or aluminum's malleability while performing the flare, preventing cracks and leaks. The Flaring SPIN tools were developed and are recommended for soft copper tubing sizes 1/4’’ 3/8’’ 1/2’’ 5/8’’ 3/4" & 7/8in with wall thickness up to 0.8mm (1.0mm for 5/8" tubing dia.). Because they perform their job using high-temperature and friction, no clamping tools or holders are necessary. The SPIN Flaring Tools make flares with the ideal dimensions for a perfect packing, due a wider area of contact between the flare surface and the valve/tube accessory. To perform the flaring in copper/aluminum tubing, simply attach the corresponding SPIN Tool size to a drill (not included). I’ve been an hvac tech of 13 yrs. This is a fast and seems to be a consistent way of flaring. One issue is if you are making a flare on existing pipe in a place where you maybe don’t have room to get a drill in, but as long as you’ve got the room this works good. You definitely have to make sure you have a couple inches of straight pipe and that it can be held securely while making the flare. If the pipe can move around much at all it will mess it up and you absolutely need to be as perfectly lined up with the pipe as possible with the drill or the flare and the inside of the pipe will be messed up.Has it’s place like any tool. It’s not for every situation, but it does work! ### ⭐ Maybe it is me .... *by P***F on Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2021* I cannot get this tool to make a nice flare at all. I have followed the instructions and tried a couple of different things to try and make it work. I have tried different speeds with the drill and different thickness materials and the flares look so bad that I do not even want to try them to see if they work. For what this tool costs, do yourself a favor and buy a conventional flaring tool. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excited to try it. *by J***N on Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2020* This type of tool was brought to my attention while attending an advanced technical class on ductless systems. While the instructor recommended using there torque wrench on all flares, he was not opposed to using this system to make the flares. As a service tech, typically finding leaking flares from the install, I was looking for a quick and easy way to remake flares in the field in hard to reach places. This tool will make repairing system much simpler and faster. Hopefully better. Although I’ve yet needed to use it on the job, I have practiced with it on the bench to get familiar with it.
