The inside is completely smooth and cylinder/cone shaped. The threads are on the outside so that you don't have that problem. You are able to use this crusher without loosing any of your "dose", and you have to worry about groves ridges, threads or anything you'd have to dig the powder out of. I use mine everyday & it is the best one I've ever had. **Q: Can you crush multiple pills at the same time?** A: I just checked with those who use it. They routinely crush several small pills at the same time, and they find that to be easy. A large, especially hard tablet takes more twisting; but it doesn't require much strength. **Q: will the large size crusher crush a very small 16mg pill?** A: It crushes whatever pill you put in it.
