Review: Such pretty color!! - This hair color is awesome, hands down. I've got dark blonde/light brown hair, and I've colored it in the past but I've always done more natural colors (reds, and one foray with black) since school and work always had strict dress code requirements for no non-natural hair colors. But life is too short and the world kinda just sucks all around right now, so why not do something fun, you know? So, I got some colors that I like (Genie and Sea Witch, since both were on sale at the time) and set out with a plan: go for one of those peek-a-boo hair styles and dye the under layers a color and leave the top layers natural. Since I've never bleached my hair before, I figured doing this if it messed up then at least I could potentially hide it better than if I did my whole head. First impressions, this stuff smells so nice. It's super thick as well. We used maybe 1/3 of a jar for the underside of my hair, so while the price might be a bit much at first, for me it'll last for a bit, which is nice. After getting the dye on, we pulled my hair into a shower cap and I let it sit for about, I think maybe 2 or 3 hours before rinsing it out with cold water. Was surprised that there didn't seem to be a whole ton of color coming off when rinsing it out, I'm used to seeing a lot of color bleed off when I used to go red, and was fully prepared for my shower to look like I'd murdered a certain purple dinosaur, but there weren't any color stains left behind that I could see. I followed the rinsing with one of those Ion color sealing packets I got from the local Sally Beauty supply, since I read people mention the semi permanent colors tend to fade really quick. Genie is super vibrant on light blonde hair, like I knew it would be bright but seeing it on your own hair is something else entirely. Since it's basically a conditioner with a lot of dye in it, it leaves your hair so nice and silky soft. So far it's been 3 weeks since we did the color, and I wash my hair every other day since it tends to get stupidly greasy and nasty if I try to push it longer, and dry shampoos never seem to work well for me, so I had already resigned to expect the color to maybe stay nice and bright for a couple of weeks before starting to fade. But so far, I don't think it's faded at all yet, it's still so vibrant! I've been using Strawberry Leopard shampoo for the roots of my hair and the L'Oréal dream lengths conditioner for the middle and ends. I never use any heat on my hair, and I always wash it in cold water. Don't know if the color is staying so well because of the methods I use to keep up my hair, or if my hair just likes to soak up and hold color longer or what, but either way I'm loving how it's looking and am already planning out my next idea for adding in the Sea Witch to go along with Genie. 5/5 will definitely buy again.
Review: Holy Fuchsia, Batman! - This is my first time ever dying my own hair. My "before" picture was taken about a year ago when I had my hair professionally highlighted for the first time, and most accurately depicts my hair color(s) as the sun has helped me maintain my lighter streaks. When looking for a good hair dye, I knew I wanted something only semi-permanent (in case I botched it and needed to scrub it out) and, preferably, a dark burgundy or maroon color, as I LOVE the effect of dark semi-natural looking hair that looks red or purple in the light. I knew getting an especially dark color would be difficult as a natural blonde, but the pictures from my fellow black/brown-haired reviewers inspired me to purchase this color (plus hey, it's called chocolate cherry, sounds like a perfect description of dark brown + red to me!) Unlike most other dyes I looked into, this one did NOT come with the other tools you need, such as gloves, a coloring bowl or, most notably, an applicator brush. My "thrifty" (clueless) self decided just dunking an unused toothbrush in the jar would be good enough. I started following a YouTube balayage tutorial but got carried away and before I knew it, my entire head (and eyebrows, not to mention gloves, ears, and neck) were saturated. Even after covering my whole head, I still have more than half the jar left! The directions say to wait at least 30 minutes and up to 2 hours for the most vibrant and long-lasting results, so I waited one hour prior to taking a cold shower to rinse the dye out. As this was my first time, I didn't think too much while I flipped my hair all around with my head and fingers to get all the dye out. This may have been my biggest mistake, as the pink-ness splashed EVERYWHERE, and I am still finding new areas of my shower tiles to bleach and scrub down several days later. However, the dye truly made my hair feel SO GOOD, like better than after using a high-end conditioner, so getting to run my fingers all through that softness was worth it! As you can see from my photos (face contorted for some false sense of privacy), the results were SO VIVID! I was expecting a color result similar to the "medium blonde" depicted in the product photos, as that is what the majority of my hair color is. Instead it is a brilliant fuchsia color... that exact shade where you call it hot pink but any man will argue it's somehow purple. I am blown away by how well it blended with the varying shades of my highlights and natural hair color, however, creating a deeper burgundy near the roots and a highlighter pink in streaks. Despite the crazy color (my friends have now dubbed me "Skittles"), this variation left it feeling a little more natural-- not just like some bad LazyTown cosplay. I also took an old, mostly empty brown mascara and added perhaps half a teaspoon of the dye and have been applying that to my eyebrows to complete the look... that may be a terrible idea but it works for me so I thought I'd share. Last night I went for a run; I sweat a LOT and had seen reviews of some dyes warning that sweaty workouts may double as a tie-dying sesh for your clothes, but not at all for me with this dye! Afterwards in the shower I shampooed very thoroughly, mostly testing to see just how much might come out in one intensive shower, and noticed moderate fading near the roots but no change at all in vibrancy throughout the rest of my hair. I have since ordered shades of red, blue, and purple from Manic Panic to experiment with adding in a little different color to tone down the level of pink I was not expecting. TL;DR -- Pros: Easy to use despite not coming with tools, made my hair smell and feel great. A little goes a long way and I only needed half a jar. Color is vibrant, resilient, and truly unique. Cons: I'm still scrubbing the hot pink tint out of brushes, bathroom tiles, and my skin/fingernails. The color also leans more red/hot pink, while the photos show it as more purple; it's a brilliant color but lacking any more blue undertones.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long does semi-permanent hair dye last?**
A: Ideally, your color should last several weeks, but results may vary based on your hair health, how pigmented your dye is, how often you wash your hair, and your lifestyle and hair styling habits.

**Q: What do you mean by Full Coverage?**
A: Our full-coverage hair dyes are our most pigmented, super-saturated formulas and are designed to gradually fade over the course of several weeks.

**Q: Do I need to bleach before using this hair dye?**
A: Our damage-free hair dyes are formulated without bleach or chemical lighteners, so they won’t lighten your hair. As such, you’ll notice the best color payoff when you start with light hair.

**Q: What colors are best for darker hair?**
A: Some of our most pigmented shades include Chocolate Cherry, Sea Witch, Mystic, Valentine, Flaming Red, and Anime. When used on dark hair, these dyes deposit a cute, subtle tint of color.

**Q: How much Unicorn Hair Dye will I need?**
A: We suggest 1 jar for short, bob-length hair, 2-3 jars for hair reaching between the shoulders and waist, and at least 3 jars for hair that reaches beyond the tailbone.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love it!

I usually use Rockabilly Blue but I've had good results with this brand in the past so I went with it this time. With this color works just like most of them do, the lighter your hair is the brighter it is but no matter what color you start with it does hold well. To get the color on the box your hair will need to be bleached white, otherwise it holds just as well but it gets duller & darker as the hair gets darker. I am predominately a level 8 but some tones are lighter some are darker because my last bleaching went bad and I do have a little gray in with natural brown roots so when I use unnatural colors it gives me an amazing variety of shade variation. I got a range of colors anywhere from bright bright blue like in the picture to a duller darker blue to a bluish overtone over my natural med. brown color that stands out like a blazing blue overcast in indoor lighting or outside. It's deeply pigmented and very comparable with Rockabilly but one big bonus, you get more because the bottle is much bigger so that earned it 5 full stars. My hair is still a work in progress and when it's finished I will be back to post results but so far it's downright amazing & I am very happy with this brand & this color so I decided to stop & order a couple more colors and get a bit more creative. It smells great and I'm happy with the product, the price, and the results. I like to put mine in then wrap it in saran wrap and set overnight & shower it out the next morning. It leave the hair super soft, smelling good and in good overall condition and doing it this way with 1 wash a week it lasts an amazingly long time. When mine arrived it was a bit runny so I suggest stirring it with something plastic before use to thicken it back up. I will update with a pic & final results when my other colors have arrived & I'm finished coloring. *If this review was Helpful to you please let me know!*
