This is VERY GOOD if you only rarely print in color ... you can just put in one full PGI220 fat black tank and leave the others empty but "reset". Why? If you don't, then EVEN IF you NEVER print color (just grayscale), the printer gradually WASTES the colored ink during its cycling ... when it runs out, the printer refuses to print even a pure black ink sheet ... and then ya gotta go buy more colored tanks even though you never used the ink! THIS DEVICE eliminates that ... the printer thinks that the reset empty colored tanks are full, and works fine for black and white. Instructions are super-simple (no battery needed):1. take it out of the package2. put insert in (for CLI221 skinny tanks - skip step for PGI220 fat black tank)3. slide in the tank and wait about one sec for red light to come on (hold for 3 sec or so to be sure)4. install tanks in printerOther notes: what I got looks different than the pic, but that's probably an older clunkier model ... mine's blue but without the big rectangular box shown on the left ... it's got a little slip-insert instead (see step 2)BTW: I also ordered the PrintPayLess kit with five full tanks plus all the refill ink ... DON'T make that mistake! I'm a very careful person that follows instructions. Even when doing so, the tanks dripped all over the place unless you hold them upside down ... Plugged them in, waited 5 seconds after the red light turned on, put them back in the printer, they show full now. I was kind of skeptical before purchasing, as the price was a lot lower than on other sites, even for the same product - then decided to take a chance. Well, it looks like a good call - if you need a PGI-220/CLI-221 chip resetter, this is the one to get. Otherwise, I was surprised to see that it doesn't look like presented in the picture, it's blue, but it looks like the red PGI-8/CLI-5 resetter sold by BisonTec.Also, despite the note at the bottom of the page, this resetter is battery-powered, so you don't need an USB cable to power it. Didn't find any obvious screws anywhere, there might be one under the label on the bottom of the unit, but I'll figure it out when (if?) I'll have to replace the battery. Until then, no need to worry about it.Great product, great price.EDIT:Six months later (and about 30-40 resets) it still runs great, no issues, still using the original batteries.EDIT2:Since this resetter is still available two years later, here's another update: still working, still on the original set of batteries, used it probably 100 or so times with no glitches.Found the screws, they're located under the label at the bottom, once you peel the label off you can see them.It uses three 1.5 volt batteries (type LR41 - equivalent to AG3 or 192), if you need to replace them. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work out of the package *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2014* I've had one of these before, worked fine until it didn't.
