It does work well and the colors hold if used as instructed (being a guy, I don't remember if I have ever completely read the instructions, but it's pretty simple minded). The color may not last as long as the original, but it's feasible to repeat in a reasonable period. And it will dye anything within a 15 foot radius if not performed in a controlled procedure. I find outdoors is a safer area. I start with clearing a 15 radius of anything I cant afford to replace or have cleaned or reDye to its original color, or if it will involve a Vet. I use a wooden hoe handle to mix and lift out the hot/wet pants - into a 5 gallon bucket with the turkey basket in it. This leaves about 3 gallons of water that I then add the solution and mix a bit. While the pants are still pretty hot and excess water dripped off, I carefully lift and lower them into the Dye mix. Then it's a matter of poking and swishing them carefully around to pick up the Dye in every part. About the time your arms give out, they should be done. Turn off the burner, let it simmer. I add a few gallons of warm water to the 5 gallon plastic bucket (remove the turkey basket). Then lift, let them drip off excess before lowering them into the warm clean water. After lightly moving them around to lower the temperature, I use a water hose to add another gallon. Then pour out the water and submerge them in cold tap water. Hang them up to dry. Wash them with other jeans, then into the dryer. works for me....... and no animals were harmed during the process. And a new matching hoe handle bonus. It has become faded over the years and is looking worse for wear. I have looked high and low to find a replacement but I just keep coming back to my tried and true apron. I decided that I may be able to get a few more years of service if I could dye over the faded areas. I used the stovetop method and cooked it with the dye, salt and water (as the apron is cotton). After the stove top cooking time, I rinsed the apron until the water ran clean and then placed it in the washing machine with a few old towels. It came out amazing. The color is now a darker denim color, but the color is uniform. It looks great. I have been using it for over a month now and there has been no color transfer. Don't for get to add salt or white vinegar depending on the type of fabric you are putting it on. When you just add the powder to the water it will wash off. I did that the first time. I didnt know what type of material it was so I added salt and it still came off. Then I added vinager to it and the dye stayed on. **Q: Will this dye evenly on a hoodie that has bleach spots ?** A: Depends on what color the hoodie is, what kind of fabric it is made from, and what color you are trying to dye it. I dyed a cotton jumpsuit that I got bleach spot on and it came out great, but the jumpsuit was a light olive green and I dyed it a darker olive green. You can mix dye and water to a more concentrated mix and spot treat the bleach spots, using a sponge or brush, then after it is dry dye the entire hoodie to even out the color. **Q: Is powder dye better than liquid dye or vice versa?** A: I can't tell you which dye is better, because I have not tried liquid dye. However, I can say that this particular powder dye worked GREAT on my bathroom rugs. I revived them several months ago and they still look vibrant.
