I learned to use a chef's knife as a prep cook back in my early 20's (longer ago than I care to admit). I actually prefer the 8" knife included with this set to my more-expensive J.A. Henckels simply because the handle is so comfortable. The factory edge was excellent and I've only recently had to sharpen the 8" knife. I was also a bit skeptical about the non-stick coating and thought it might affect the knives' sharpness but it doesn't - it's actually quite a nice feature. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Painted blades *by L***E on Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2019* The blades are painted- the paint hasn’t been coming off during use but I didnt want painted blades. I must have missed that in the description. They cut fine and have not needed sharpening. Got these for the RV because they have the cases for each knife.
