## Overview

The Proxxon 28512 Micromot 60 EF is a lightweight, ergonomically designed 12V rotary tool featuring a quiet, balanced DC motor with variable speeds from 5,000 to 20,000 RPM. Its quick-action keyless chuck accommodates shaft sizes from 1/32" to 1/8", making it perfect for precision tasks like milling, engraving, and polishing across diverse materials. Built with durable glass-fiber reinforced polyamide housing and a soft handle, it offers professional-grade control and longevity for model makers, jewelers, and artisans.

## Description

Product Description Perfect for milling, drilling, routing, polishing, cutting, cleaning, brushing, deburring, sawing, engraving, carving, etc. These lightweight high precision tool in a pen style design (diameter only 35mm (1.4")) is ergonomically formed to allow comfortable handling and optimal control. His quietness and effortless, vibration-free drive via the special permanent magnet motor, the ground spindle and collar bearing all contribute to the ergonomic design. An efficient cooling system facilitates extended use under various load conditions. Useable on any workable material e.g. steel, precious metals, wood, glass, ceramics, plastics, precious stones. Ideal for model builders, woodcarvers, jewelers, opticians, artists, dental technicians, tool and die makers, etc. Note: A mains adapter is required to operate the MICROMOT 60 devices. We recommend the PROXXON mains adapter NG 2/S. The speed control of our 12 volt devices only works when operated via nonstabilised power supply units (e.g. all MICROMOT mains adapters). Connection to stabilised power supply units is possible. However, the devices will then operate with maximum rotational speeds (also applies to operation with batteries). Technical data: Speeds from 5,000 - 20,000rpm (no load), weight: 230g (1.2 lbs), length: 220mm (8 21/32"). Low voltage for optimal safety, 12V DC, max 40W input. From the Manufacturer Proxxon micromot 60 EF 12 to 18-Volt rotary tool with variable speed and keyless chuck. The new 60 EF with quick action chuck. Practical for use with different shaft diameters, will accept 1/32-Inch to 1/8-Inch (0.3-to-3.22mm). Primarily advantageous when working with HSS drill bits of different sizes. Slim, easily handled and light. Quick-action chuck and electronic revolutions adjustment, with feedback effect (high engine power in the lower revolutions area). Special, balanced low noise DC motor with high life expectancy. Stable housing made of glass-fibre reinforced Polyamide, with a soft handle.

Review: Great Product - I bought the Proxxon Micromot 50 EF Rotary Tool for a CNC micro drill press. This unit is better choice over considering a Dremel motor head for the same application and budget size. No perceptible side to side play of the arbor. Very solid. For example, the bearings are superior quality to eliminate high frequency vibration that often breaks 1/8" shank micro drill bits. The DC power input to the motor also helps in this regard too. Versatility is extended by the EF 50's built in speed control and a mounted-in-metal press to lock the arbor button helps change bits. Because the mounting boss [item #2 in the picture] is a built-in 20mm O.D x 7.25mm wide steel ring instead of plastic, it solidly transfers and protects the output bearings from clamping pressure. No worries about crushing, misalignment or creep of the drill head from a loose mounting grip you're afraid of over-tightening especially from a rapidly moving CNC where the inertia due to accelerating, traversing, then decelerating weight of the motor head may gradually loosen the mounting clamp grip on non-steel mounts. For the interested CNC reader, my CNC micro drill uses this mount 20mm Shaft Support Pillow Block but the 3 jaw chuck is about half way recessed up into the bore making changing bits a bit of a hassle. My plan is to change the chuck from a round to a hex style body [then a small spanner can be used to loosen the chuck and change the bit] will eliminate removing the Micromot from the clamp to change the bit. An 8mm thick mount could be machined but for now not in the budget. This is the only downside I found for the nano-wallet CNC micro driller guy/gal using this motor head. ;) But I'm talking budget right ? LOL Okay, moving on... The transition joint between the olive green plastic motor body to the black anodized machined [not cast] aluminum of the arbor piece is engineered in a way to complement the firmness of the metal parts which house the bearings for the output shaft. It's a 18 volt (max) DC motor, but that is easy to solve for the clever owner of one of these. The plug is polarity marked and you can go from there. Or buy the companion Micromot power supply if you want a turn-key situation. For the basement tech hobbyist/hacker, the 50 EF is a great buy cost vs quality over other higher priced dedicated drill motors I could have bought for the same CNC duty I use this for. Disclaimer stuff- No. I'm not a Proxxon affiliate, employee or advertiser. And NO, Proxxon hasn't neither approved of how I use their great versatile product or this review. YES, my skills may not be the same as your skills. Very satisfied.
Review: Great little Tool! - This little tool has a sweet feel and great balance!! It also runs true. It is the third in a line of attempts to get another tool to take some of the load of my Foredom tookl, and from having to do all of my work on my primary heavier duty Foredom cable tool. I bought a cordless model at Harbor Freight that came with only one battery. And the battery lasted all of about 15 minutes on a charge! Ridiculous! Then I was considering a cordless "Dremmel Micro". It looked like a nice tool, but it is a rechargeable stand tool, and it only comes with one battery. And coming out of the box with just one battery was unacceptable to me, for a tool that costs nearly 100 dollars by the time you pay the taxes on it. What was Dremmel thinking? So I tried a Dremmel model 2100 that costs around 65 dollars, 71 dollars + some change after taxes..And when I got home and chucked up a tool.and started trying it out, it did not run true, or even close to it. There was so much end wobble that my1/64th burr became at least a 1/32nd one while it was running. And I have seen this very sane complaint about Dremmel allot lately. How can Dremmel allow such poor quality tools to be put out on the shelves? Anyway, I had previous experience with Proxxon, and I loved my old Proxxon A/C tool. But sadly, I tried to use it in a situation where I really should have been using at least a small side grinder, and in so doing, I burned a resistor out in it. Now I am looking forward to using this new DC Proxxon version. Anyone who compares the feel and the much smaller grip area and the relative lightness of this tool compared to most of these other brands type tools will probably be spoiled to this Proxxon tool from now on!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: where is the on-off switch?**
A: The on-off is incorporated into the speed dial. Turn it and it clicks "on" and turn it further the speed will go up. Turn it the other direction and the speed will reduce and turned further will switch off.

**Q: Is there a replacement battery available and if so at what price?**
A: This model don't use any batteries. You must have a special adapter (also from Proxxon) from 220 or 120 V to 12 V.

**Q: Can I use a universal 12V adaptor or I have to buy Proxxon brand? Is any power supply included?**
A: I have not experimented with other power supplies, I can tell you the Proxxon power supply is 12 volt DC / 2 amp output.I can't tell you how much of that 2 amps the rotary tool uses under normal use. The label on my model 50E rotary tool states 18 volts DC max. and 40 watt power max.Other than being lighter and easier to handle for delicate work, a Dremel tool is what I use most of the time.

**Q: Is power supply is sold separately ?**
A: Yes, you will need to purchase a Proxxon power supply. Either a 38706 Proxxon NG 2/S or 38704 Proxxon NG 5/E. You must use a Proxxon brand power supply otherwise the speed control not work.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ... sealed ball bearings - speed control works - overall excellent bang for the buck would recommend - NOTE
*by D***M on September 24, 2016*

Small inexpensive little grinder built well - made in Luxembourg Germany - no slop in the spindle due to sealed ball bearings - speed control works - overall excellent bang for the buck would recommend - Have used these little grinders to the point I could not hold on to them without getting burned, cool-down and they work - no noises or parts falling off or fires, thats what I like about these they just work and actually using them is not a problem - before using these I figured small grinders were disposable - I would recommend.. Both the grinders I bought were made in Germany - If you bought a grinder with the good old "CE" [Or China Export] on the sticker below the speed control knob it was made in China and this review does not apply.
