## Description

Tri-Arc's 9-Step Safety Angle Steel Rolling Ladder model is designed on a very comfortable 50-degree incline that by code permits the user to descend face forward. Equipped with 24-inch wide steps and a 17-inch deep top platform, this is the perfect tool to use when ascending and descending carrying heavy or bulky loads and performing work for prolonged periods of time from the top platform. All of the models are equipped with hand rails, guardrails, 8.5-inch deep steps, and a 10-inch deep first step to provide safety and comfort. Tri-Arc’s Safety Angle Ladder model is engineered and manufactured in compliance with OSHA 1910.29 and ANSI A14.7 standards. Additional features include 1-1/16-inch tubular steel construction with gray powder coated paint finish, Step-Lock positive locking system that engages when the user steps on the first step with a pedal release, and Grip Strut slip-resistant tread design. Overall height is 126 inches and platform height is 90 inches. Rated capacity of 450 lbs and made in the USA. Assembly required; two people recommended for safety.

Review: Well Built and Works as it Should. - Well designed and built. Easy to assemble and while I did it solo, I would recommend using two people to both speed the process and to handle the lifting and moving, especially to stand upright after assembly. Definitely a quality piece of equipment which will give many years of serviceability in my shop.
Review: Rugged - I believe these stairs hold much much more than 450# OSHA rating. I phoned their company "Tri Arc", regarding the OSHA 450# weight rating. They said that rating is on all lengths in this kind of steel staircases made with this particular steel. Note, this is not the high carbon steel on other stairs they make. Those are more expensive but have much higher weight weightings. I believe those are rated at 1,000#. But regarding the steel in the stairs I bought, I noticed the OSHA weight rating doesn't differ between the various lengths of the product and the number of stairs. I mean a staircase with 2 stairs does not span the same distance so, in theory, should hold more weight without bending. And Tri-Arc stated the OSHA rating is not on each step but the overall product. So length and OSHA rating don't vary which further leads me to believe the OSHA rating is "low balled". I personally believe it is just a rating that industrial companies are looking for when they order stairs to meet OSHA standards. I mean seriously you can't tell me that during the course of a day they don't have several workers going up the stairs in groups far exceeding this 450# weight. They'd have to have rules that would not permit that and I'm pretty sure they don't. If they do they sure don't have time to monitor something like that. So common sense tells me that weight capacity of these stairs obviously exceed that 450# limit. And I noticed the stairs vs same length "rolling ladder" frames also had the same OSHA rating. The rolling ladder basically consists of same staircase but is bolted to the portable frame with wheels. I had assumed the frame that the rolling ladder was connected to would add to its strength. But I am not sure as OSHA doesn't distinguish. Bottom line is that the person I talked to at Tri-Arc stated they were not allowed say much more without risking overstating. But they DID say they have internal tests far above the OSHA ratings. I highly suggested they get their products independently tested for actual strengths. They do themselves a great disservice by not doing that. I just know from my use it's well above 450#. I could easily put at least four 200# people on the staircase with no concerns. Note, in the photo, I went even further and added additional bracing to the connection between the stairs and rolling ladder frame. But that was simply because I plan to put even much more weight upon them. I am trying to take advantage of space available in my heavy trussed/framed garage attic and have big men in my family carrying a lot of weight up and down. I had originally planned on building a wood set of stairs but this was much more cost effective. There was no way I was going to pay $5,000 to get a product that won't hold this amount and I sure as heck wasn't going to buy a flimsy ladder. I researched for hours and hours and this was the most rugged product for the money. Down the road I MIGHT remove the rolling ladder frame and use a winch to swing the stairs up out of the way when not in use. I STILL think it would hold about the same amount of weight given the way this is made. Note also, I placed shelf on the bottom and have placed tubs there to utilize the space under the ladder and I am still able to roll it. The overall product weighs only 400# (including portable frame) which is pretty amazing for the weight it supports. One would think it would be much heavier. Welds are incredible. Slope is around 50 degrees and treads are deep which means I can even walk down them facing forward. Note I have not put the handrails on but will be doing so in the near future. But I HAVE used this a lot already and this thing is an absolute beast!.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great addition to my shop.
*by D***N on November 9, 2021*

I built a loft for storage in my shop and was preparing to build stairs to access it. I came across this set of movable stairs and pulled the trigger hoping for the best. Really pleased with the quality , assembly and easy of making customizations for my needs. The top bar was too high to move around without bumping into crossmembers so just cut it down and works perfectly. I also left off the rail on one side making it far easier to access shelves and second floor. Very sturdy.
