Control GX is the first and only shampoo smart enough to gradually reduce greys by slowly bringing them back to their natural shade while it cleanses and conditions your hair. You get an extremely natural look - just by shampooing as you normally do. Just use it instead of your usual shampoo until you like what you see. Then use it in rotation with your usual shampoo to maintain the look you like. There's never been an easier way to control your grey. Get the look you want: Use the control GX as your daily shampoo, and after the first few washes, you'll start to see a subtle reduction in the amount of gray. Continue to use it until you reach your desired level of grey reduction (generally within 2 to 4 weeks). I've had a beard for over 20 years, usually kept around 8–10 mm in length. Whenever I trim it, it's typically on a Friday night or Saturday morning. After trimming, I'll use Control GX once or twice over the weekend to bring the color back to what it looked like before the trim. From there, I usually only need one application during the week to keep everything looking consistent. One tip for long-time users: toward the end of the bottle, it seems like there's a much higher concentration of dye left compared to the shampoo. Rather than using it straight, I've found that it works much better to start a new bottle and mix in a small amount of dye from the old bottle during each use. I've been doing this for a long time and it gives me stronger, more consistent results while letting me go longer between applications. It's also incredibly easy to use. One thing I learned early on is to apply it with your palms instead of your fingertips. The dye stains your fingernails after repeated use (I noticed it after about half a dozen applications), but using your palms avoids that problem completely. Review: Defective on arrival. Foam does not come out of sprayer and fills body/head of duck ruining it. - Works, but I am slightly disappointed. It is gradual and there is a gradual, subtle difference, but because you're constantly growing new gray hair, it isn't really that effective if you trim your beard regularly. If you have a long bushy beard and don't trim less than 1/2 inch then it will work. There are some flaws in it's concept: 1. As above: Always growing gray hairs, and when you trim, you're trimming away the treated hair revealing gray. Using regularly will help, but it's not ideal. 2. Too small of a tube. In order to see any meaningful results, you need to be using this 2 or more times per week. I've been using it once a week and have a short beard that does not require a lot of product. It has run out within a month. If you're using this 2-3 times a week, and/or you have a bushy beard, I think you'll use up the tube very quickly. Also, the tube is sort of difficult to manage because of the size/shape. 3. The gray hairs are not turning brown. It's more like dulling their whiteness to a darker gray/purple/maroon coloring. 4. The instructions say do not use your fingers to massage into your beard - use your palms, otherwise your fingers will be dyed purple. This is no lie. Fingernails particularly turn color. But this is not really OK. The method of application and environment, and the requirement of lathering it up does not really work for "palm application". You can coat your fingernails in petroleum jelly before your shower to help avoid coloring them... but...really? I think compared with the alternative of using the standard beard dye this is pretty convenient though. I do like being able to do this in the shower and not have to deal with the other mess of standard dye. Overall I'd say it does the job, but it's not exactly as easy or effective as you'd expect.

**Q: Does this beard gx shampoo work better for brown or black tones of hair?**
A: It works best with light brown to medium brown hair.  You'll need to use it more often and leave it in longer to reach a black color.  Also, there's more contrast between your gray or white hair and your black hair than someone with medium brown hair.  The Control GX will tone down that contrast a lot even if you don't get it all the way to black.  And don't forget that this product isn't meant to produce a uniformly colored head of hair.  It's meant to leave some gray to make it look more natural.

**Q: does this work for gray  stubble like 3-4 days without shaving or will it dye the skin too?**
A: I've found that the Control GX beard wash works best with a beard length of at least a 1/2" up to maybe 1 1/2".  At that length, it has something to cling to and the more fluid shampoo really gets into the beard in a way the 2 part mix and brush-in product can't.

But, for stubble the thicker 2 part product with the color gel and developer gel and brush will cling to the short hair much better.  The only problem at that point is that average facial hair growth rates are around 1/8" per week.  And that new hair is gonna be whatever color you have naturally.  If you trim to maintain a certain stubble length, you'll be back to white in a week.

**Q: Do you have to use his daily? How long does the color last when you reach your desired shade?**
A: Frequency of use depends on your level of gray and how much you want to darken it.  Personally, once I reached the color I wanted, I only use it once or twice a week now.  I have medium-dark brown hair and probably 70% gray.  This stuff works great for me.

The color basically is permanent.  It will last until you cut off the dyed hair.  When you cut your hair, you will expose new roots at the bottom which are white or hair that is lighter in color because they haven't been dyed as many times.  I cut my own hair and beard every week.  Some weeks I can get away with one application and some weeks it may take a second application to get it back to where I want it.

**Q: Use this be used on facial hair that grows in, but not into a huge beard?**
A: Yes.  You don't have to have a huge beard to use this product, it will color any type of facial hair regardless of the length.  If you have only a mustache, it will work for that also.

I’ve been using this beard wash for a while now, and it works great. It gradually reduces the gray without making it look like I suddenly dyed my beard overnight, which is exactly what I was hoping for.
