## Description

When using a Duo-Pak (DP) size adhesive, rely on 3M dispensing equipment for convenient and accurate metering, mixing and dispensing. Creates a Strong Bond on Low Surface Energy Plastics Structural bonds can be achieved without special surface treatments such as chemical etching, plasma, flame, or corona treatment or priming. Simply wipe the surfaces with isopropanol to remove mold release agents, dust dirt, etc. 3M Scotch-Weld Structural Plastic Adhesive DP8005 Black bonds metals, ceramics, and wood and most other plastics. We also formulate this adhesive with 8 mil spacer beads for bond line spacing. Recommended Applications Joining plastics to metals, such as in the manufacture or repair of appliances Bonding low surface energy plastics without priming Impact resistance composite bonding Manufacture or repair of various sporting goods equipment Low surface energy plastics such as polypropylene, polyethylene and thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) Medium Viscosity Allows Controlled Dispensing Our 3M Scotch-Weld Structural Plastic Adhesive DP8005 Black starts with medium viscosity for controlled dispensing and spreads to sufficiently wet out the surface. The mix ratio is 10:1 and provides a 3 minute work life. The adhesive reaches handling strength in approximately 3 hour and is fully cured in 24 hours (at 72 F/22 C). Easy Adhesion with Acrylic Acrylic adhesives are two-part adhesives that provide excellent bond strength and durability. Often referred to as epoxy adhesives or epoxy glue, acrylics actually belong to a separate chemical family with their own unique characteristics. This very unique adhesive bonds LSE plastics without priming or other surface treatments.

Review: So far so good - I have a John Deere tractor and it was leaking diesel from a crack in the plastic tank. I couldn’t fill it over a quarter tank without it leaking. The dealer wanted about $1500 to replace the tank and said it was unrepairable. I tried some other products that failed to work and was about to give up. Then I saw this and gave it a try since it is made for the special type of plastic these fuel tanks are made of. It is still working after 2 months of use. It was very easy to use and requires no special prep, but the glue gun I had to buy to apply it was stupidly expensive for what it is. Anyway, the $130 I spent for both was still far better than replacing the tank. Even if the leak returns I have plenty left to keep repairing it.
Review: Incredibly Strong Bond With HDPE - Using it to glue endcap to NDS channel drain. NDS said the plastic is HDPE, high density polyethylene, and recommended contact cement. I tried contact contact cement and PVC and neither worked. Contact cement was tacky but definitely not strong. PVC did not adhere and flaked off. This glue has 3 min work time during which the glue remains pliable. Glue mixture has consistency of yellow mustard and will fill 1/16" - 1/8" gap. It dries after 3-4 hours and is very strong. I can't pull it apart! I wiped contacting surfaces clean before application but no further treatment beyond that (e.g., sanding, flame). The only downside is that it needs a special applicator gun, which includes the necessary 10:1 pistons to get the right mix. You also need a 10:1 nozzle. Listen to what the other reviewer said. I bought the applicator gun (which 10:1 and 1:1 pistons), nozzle, and glue from desertcart.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: The adhesive is advertised to work specifically for automotive plastics. I was doubtful, as every other adhesive I have tried did not work very well, if it worked at all, but this stuff works! For the price, it better have, as it is really expensive. Finding the right dispenser was a chore, but I finally found one on eBay that was not more expensive than the adhesive itself.
